docluv01
Hi guys, I finally broke and got an IPOD Nano (to use in the gym, so i dont have to stare at the fat chix in front of me). I was considerting getting the Z1 adapter for the IPOD, but was wondering if I couild get some feedback? DOes it work well? I remember reading that the adapter has some quirks ion it, slow, etc... Any help woudl be appreciated. Thanks
whtcrxghst
Its slow but not terrible. The adaptor isn't very expensive and easy to install so its defintely worth the $
MisFit
it works fine, its just slow to search for specific stuff, but with a nano it shouldnt be too bad cause it doesnt hold much, a 30 or 60 gig gets a little annoying
vijaja
I love it. On-screen controls (next/play/stop) and on-screen display of what's playing.
docluv01
Hmm, as far as speed....is it slower/faster then say an mp3 cd? An mp3 cd isn't bad, just theres a delay when u switch folders, etc.... do u get the album art on the screen also? anyone have any pics of what the interface looks like? ducatiboy
I don't have any pictures but yes, I would say it's probably as fast as an MP3 disk navigation interface. It's not too bad, but if you want to scroll through 300 artists, it does get old very fast. It's nice to have all your music with you in your car at all times, but if you expect to have 4000 songs and be able to just play any random one at any time you will be disappointed. What I do, I set up 5-10 playlists which are at the top of the list. Then put (on the computer in itunes) some songs you think you would like to listen to in there and use that for the week or so. I keep about 50 songs each in each of those 5-10 play lists which is 300 - 500 songs at my fingertips and name the playlists for different moods: Pop, country, comedy, rock, classic rock, disco, weird... etc. Then on a regular basis I change them around. The ipod adapter does work rather well. Not as good as the new full speed ones, but the interface is just as intuitive as the ipod itself. Whatever options you see on your ipod, you get on the Z1. Other than the sluggish speed, I think it works great. The full speed ones (like on the D3 from what I heard) is the best, these are the second best integration of an ipod to a head unit that I have ever found.
MisFit
yeah, i'm more into custom stuff, i can deal with the slow search, the full display makes up for it, besides i usually just leave it on shuffle and let it play
docluv01
ahh, thanks for the info. Actiually i pulled out my Z1 manual, and it had a few pics of the IPOD interface. Looks nice. The only thing I was unable to find was whether opr not album art shows up on teh screen. Not that it matters on the screen of a nano, its just that I was planning on going thru my entire colelction to update tag info wtc, and was wondering if its worth doingthe album art as well. Also, I'm havign a local guy put in the interface for me, because my dash was customized for the Z1. (Originally 1.5 din slot, expanded for double din). While the guy has my dash open, is there anything else you guys would recommend me doing? I already have the bypass circuit installed. Thanks for everyones feedback...
