Dan1701z
I noticed a sensor or some kind of oval cover on the right side of the cd slot. I am just curious what it is for. I know the d3 doesn't support a wireless remote so its not that but what is it??? Dan

cntrylvr79
And who said the d3 doesn't support a wireless remote?
coocho
its most likely for the steering wheel remote.
whtcrxghst
So I covered up the oval thing with my finger and my remote still works. Cross that one off the list of possibilities
Dan1701z
whtcrxghst I take it your remote is wireless??? I tired an old wireless pioneer remote I have from another stereo and it wasn't working. Then again I can't be for sure that the remote is still good lol. Dan
jjk
Isn't this the sensor for Daylight? I have the AVIC-X1 and whith this unit it is so that if you drive in a dark surrounding the display illumination dims. Regards, Jan
Dan1701z
no that is what the illumination wire is for
whtcrxghst
Yes, I have a couple old Pioneer remotes lying around and they all worked. I finally settled on one from my AVHP7500DVD that got stolen. Seems to be alot like the CDR5. Any old Pioneer remote should work so maybe your battery was dead whtcrxghst I take it your remote is wireless???
