Steering wheel controls for AVIC Z2?

Hey guys,

 

I was wondering if its possible to hook up steering wheel controls to the avic z2?

 

If yes, is it compatible with most car makes? Particularly BMW and Chrysler/Dodge?

you can check PAC SWI PS. it is compatable with the z2. Not sure for which makes of car, but generally on older cars it works great.

yes you can but you have to have a remote for it. the steering wheel control module will not program without a remote because it uses an IR signal to transmit.

Thats not exactly true.

 

If you use the PAC SWI-PS, thats wired directly into the Z2 via the 'Wired Remote Input'.

 

PAC also makes a steering wheel adapter for headunits that don't have that input, and in those cases you need to get a remote to program it. But if you get the PAC SWI-PS, there is no remote needed.

That's the pac SWI-X. It has an IR receiver and transmitter and is programmable for anything, and I would recommend staying away from it.

 

The SWI-PS is pre-programmed and hardwired.
