05Stang-GT
You only need the factory remote if you use the IR remote, if you use the wired one (PAC SWI PS) you do not need the factory remote.
negri21
so i just get that wired kit and then my steering controls will work?
05Stang-GT
you have to program it, but yes it will work

03Aviator
If you're talking about the steering wheel controls, that wired unit is from www.pac-audio.com
negri21
well i bought the wired remote item, that was suggested. Now i need the factory remote fro the Z1 to program this. this is what i asked to begin with! So where can i find that remote?
05Stang-GT
You DO NOT NEED the factory remote to program the PAC SWI PS, you only need the factroy remote to program the IR version of the PAC
negri21
so i got that PAC part, just hook it up and my steering wheel controls work?
ducatiboy
so i got that PAC part, just hook it up and my steering wheel controls work?
Well you have to go through a slightly complicated programming method to program the PAC for which type of car you have, then you have to go through programming each "command" to which ever steering wheel button from your car. But yes, after doing that, the steering controls work.
Chuckzul
Also, be careful of the wired remotes. Even though they advertise to work with your car's steering wheel controls, you have to check their supportability matrix as quite a few vehicles will not work (i.e. Subaru). 03Aviator
Correct...and all that information is available on PAC's web site...along with some work arounds if necessary.
