Madoc
I love my unit but I am having the same radio problem as others or so it seems. My car was done by a very good shop, and they seemed super knowlegable. They told me factory units are just much, much better for radio. What they did was after I reported the initial bad reception was to splice the two connectors for the antenna together (2007 Camry has two). This did not improve the signal at all. Any idea on what it could be? The power lead? Thanks in advance.
Itchy
Chances are your car has a factory antenna amplifier that's disconnected. You're more likely to have an antenna booster in your vehicle if your antenna is integrated into the window. In the case of an 07 camry this applies. Verify the below wire is connected to the power antenna wire coming from the Pioneer. Camry 2007: Power Antenna - wire color orange - located in radio harness Maybe your shops not so "super knowledgeable"
Madoc
Thanks! I would concur that they don't seem to know exactly what they are doing. Considering they told me 'you can only get good AM/FM reception from factory radios'. I just hate having them or someone else pull that out again... grr.
knight20
Hey guys, I'm having the same trouble with my 07 Altima. On the Antenna adapter that I got from Metra, there is a blue wire that I just left unconnected. Anyone know if the above is same for my car?
whtcrxghst
I believe so
Itchy
yup. blue wire needs to be connected to power antenna wire on pioneer. i believe the power antenna wire on the pioneer is also blue.
installthis06
you should listen to satellite radio instead. Terrestrial is lame
knight20
Bingo. Just hooked up those blue wires. It threw me off during installation because it was labeled as antenna control. Now, I can actually listen to the radio without it cutting out every 5 seconds.
Madoc
True about Sat radio.. I listen to it about 95% of the time, but every once in awhile there is something I want to listen to locally. I will let you you know if that fixes it. Thanks
