2007 Mustang GT + AVIC-D3 + Sirius

Recommended Posts

Howdy all.

New guy here. :)

I just picked up my 2007 Mustang GT (Shaker 500+Sirius) and am planning to buy an AVIC-D3 with a few options such as Ipod, Bluetooth and Sirius. I'll do the install myself.

I have a couple questions:

- Since the car currently has Sirius, can I use the factory installed antenna with the Pioneer Sirius tuner?

- I see references to mounting the GPS antenna inside the car. Any recommended location for my vehicle?

Thanks for any input.

Jeff

yes you can use the factory sirius antenna...just remove the yellow plastic clip that surrounds the antenna end that goes into the factory tuner. once you pull that off it just slips right onto the pioneer tuner.

on my 07 gt i mounted the antenna right under the dashboard...as long as its not blocked by metal youre fine.

I too have an 07 mustang only with the Avic n2 and sirius. I tapped into the existing antenna on the trunk and it works awesome. If you pull back the carpeting on the passenger's side of the trunk, you will find where the antenna wire comes down. Use a pair of needle-nose pliers to slip of Ford's connector and it will pop right into the pioneer Sirius receiver. I was pretty proud of myself when I figured this out back in February- and mostly relieved that it worked correctly. Word of warning, be very careful when you pull back the carpet to get to the wires. Mine has never sat the same since. Also- let me know how your interior antenna install goes- I would love to move mine inside!
