HenryJ
I had no problems creating, restoring, or running images. I used Acronis True Image Home 10.0, I believe. Whole drive at a time. ______________ Same thing here what he said
jbhorne
So judging by all that I have read: No one has yet successfully taken their Z2 --> used the bypass update --> unlocked their drive --> imaged it --> compressed it --> and uploaded it as a torrent? I really want to update my Z1 to a Z2 (bypassed) but do not want to give Pioneer any more money. $250 for map updates isn't worth it. But I would pay someone to send a dual-layer dvd of the aforementioned steps...if they worked.
jimmy303
At first, I was considering myself schooled, but it seems I may have been onto something. I was basically likening it to using a wall outlet to run a 12v DC power supply to run an inverter, bringing it back to 120v AC. Not very efficient, seems like a lot of work, and something is bound to disagree and bring the whole project to a halt.

We've done all but the last step. We're not trying to circumvent Pioneer's revenue by upgrading everybody's Z1, the only goal was to provide a bypass for the Z2. As for a future keygen for the disc, that's possible, but not high on the list of priorities, since the ability to do what you want is there, it just costs money. Your only goal was to provide a bypass for the Z2, but our goal is to upgrade the Z1 without providing another $250 to Pioneer for a system we have all already spent a lot of money on. If you don't want to provide your image, I completely understand that, but this is something we are trying to pursue and I understand the legal aspect of it. If Ducati decides this is something we should not continue on the forums, that's his call and I will honor that as well.
ducatiboy
I don't think JasonH (who is the real authority here) or I would squash this discussion... Legal or not. Enough sites won't even let people talk about bypasses. Historically here you can talk about anything avic related. As long as there isn't too much bickering. No one has yet successfully taken their Z2 --> used the bypass update --> unlocked their drive --> imaged it --> compressed it --> and uploaded it as a torrent. After this was said, Hyperite said We've done all but the last step. Because people here have done all the "hard parts" of what jbhorne was looking for. Uploading it as a torrent was the "easy" and the most "legally questionable" part I guess. And I think that hyperlite is saying that just cause it wasn't uploaded as a torrent doesn't mean most of this has not happened, just not the very last step. I don't think that he is chastising anyone who might do so, but it's low on his priority list. It's also a lot of bandwidth and headaches for seeding such a torrent or whatever. It also opens you up to problems legally if you get tagged to something. I would like to limit the ISO begging the main forum regulars. If you want to bug each other, go nuts..... Those are huge files and not the easiest thing to distribute. I don't want this to get into a "me too", "me too", "me too" series of posts begging for Z2 images. Everyone thinks they are the only one PMing, but you are not, trust me. If people out there want to get together and share these things, go right ahead. If people want to, I would probably recommend creating a thread "ISO begging and supplying" and either post a message like "hey PM me if you are looking for one" or "hey I want one, PM me if you want to share" and then take car e of it via PM or something, eventually someone will have the time and knowhow to torrent it or something. AFMagnum
Thank you Ducati, and Hyper, please don't get me wrong; I respect your contributions especially with the Z2 bypass. I just didn't want to see this thread get squashed.

It's legally questionable enough to me that I'm not going to take the risk. And yes, STOP PM'ing ME!!!! We're not distributing images The earlier distribution was to people who could help with the bypass, and that's been completed. And ducati, it's HyperITE
