black_sedan
i also just installed my d3 and it's sad to say that the subs were pounding with my stock stereo and LOC compared to the d3. I hooked the amp's RCA to non fading/sub output. are my settings not right or something?
xsdbs
did you hook up the remote wire ( i know, probably a dumb question but gotta start somewhere) also have you gone thru the menu to turn on the sub output?
HiFiSi
Well, the preamp outputs on the D3 are pretty underpowered. Your old head unit's preamps could have been putting out a more powerful signal. Turn up the gain on your sub amp, and/or turn up the subwoofer using the settings on the D3. hottwhyrd
an LOC is usually 4-volts of output. the d3 has 2.2 so theres ur diference.
black_sedan
ok that would explain a bit. yes my subs are playing, they're just not as loud. What do you guys have your settings on? I mean, i've played around with the audio settings a bit and, overall the sound quality sucks.
Itchy
there are sub settings and a seperate loudness setting on the d3. the loudness is off by default. turn it on and it'll increase bass output.
steve310
loudness ick. I mean, I can't really say what it does with the D3 (because I haven't experimented with it much) but usually loudness increases overall volume and distorts the sound a lot. The D3 has a few settings for the subs. If you've already tried turning up just the sub volume, or messing with the LPF (low pass filter) I don't know that there is much more you can do. What are you listening to thats giving you bad quality? Burned CD's and MP3s from an outside source can sound bad if you have low quality music. The radio is never going to sound good. Real CDs and DVDs should sound ok though.
black_sedan
What setting is that under? Nice setup you have there. Do you have any pics of the white LEDs?
black_sedan
I'm listening to my ipod or burned cd's. keep in mind, all variables are kept the same, the only change was the headunit. from stock to the d3.
bouchigo
I suggest you adjust your gains properly, and don't turn on the loudness on the avic, it will only distort your sound. This is a good tutorial from JL Audio on how to set your gain properly, which is what I think you need to do before you do anything else: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=
