hottwhyrd
if the truck has the 2 knobs that hang out over the edges of the radio its a custom cut install. if you have the gigantic nav unit then metra makes a kit
ntyler
i havent bought the truck yet, so is it easy to modify if i just buy the smaller radio? Or should i waste the monet on the huge nav radio?
garrettoomey
I have a 2007 Ram 2500, and I have installed the Z2. I started with the small factory dodge radio, and swaped to the nav dash. I will pm you with the parts you would need to install it to look stock. 2006-2008 Dodge Navigation Dash: (OEM part comes in many colors) https://www.dodgeparts.com/index.php/cP ... 5814c5babd OEM part numbers for the Navigation Dash Bezel for the 2006-2008 Dodge Ram, if you prefer to go through your dealer: 1CP581DHAA Slate Gray 1CP581J8AA Khaki 5JZ121DHAC Maple & Slate Gray 5JZ121J8AC Maple & Khaki 5JZ131Z2AC Maple & Satin Silver Install kit: American International CD-K650 (by far the better looking) or Metra 99-6510. kaplan_reject
I too have an '08 Ram 2500. It may be a bit more expensive but IMO it is far easier and unless your a whiz at custom fab, a cleaner look to just replace the 1.5 din bezel with the nav bezel. Just my 2 cents. TheFett
Huge thanks to garrettoomey for doing the hard work for me prior to my install. I just received the CD-K650 trim piece (based on your opinion on it looking better) and I had a n00b question that I probably already know the answer to. It has a small plastic horizontal bar across the opening, I'm assuming that this piece should be cut out and filed down for the F90BT. Am I correct or does it serve some secret and non-obvious purpose?
garrettoomey
Yes, you will just cut/file it out.
TheFett
Thanks, I got it all installed the other night. Took about 4 hours (took me a while to find a place for the XM module, was hoping to put it where the factory Sirius was). Thanks again for the post with all the parts. Really made things easy. garrettoomey
No problem. I removed the factory Sirius, and replaced it with the Pioneer sirius. I decided to go with XM with Nav traffic instead. The XM unit is installed behind a pop out cover on the passenger side. (Open the passenger door, and look at the side of the dash, and you will see a removable cover. I used zip ties to secure it, and then used the stock sirius antenna. How about posting a picture of your finished install?
