joemamma1954
I too am using VMWare Fusion with windows 7, and Windows 8.1(have both and use 7 for things like this) I installed 16 GB of ram in my MacBook and my Mac mini(really helps, I can dedicate 8 GB to Windows when running VMWare.) I'm running a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), which comes with 16GB of RAM. I usually give Windows 4GB. Since the Naviextras Toolbox requirements page lists Windows 8, I did't bother with Windows 7, though I keep it handy.
joemamma1954
My MacBook pro is a little older, so I had to upgrade the ram myself. I also upgraded the hard drive to 480gb solid state drive and removed the dvd drive and installed the 1 tb spinning drive in its place. I took the Mac mini apart and moved the 1 th drive to slot 2, and installed SSD to slot 1. If I need DVD drive, I just plug in superdrive to USB port on either machine.
