jctek88
Hey guys. I purchased my unit May 2014 from a non-authorized pioneer dealer (yeah I know) and over the past few months I've been having a strange problem with regards to the illumination. After driving my car for about a half-hour continuously, the unit will automatically dim on its own and then after a minute or so, it would return back to normal. This would then continue for the rest of my drive. I'm thinking it's maybe overheating since it never happens on a cold start. Any thoughts?
nolarola
Did you check the wiring? Maybe the connection for the dim wiring is loose.
kingoftypos
^Yeah^. When it happens again, go into your settings and see what the Illumination wire says. Does it say ON, when in fact the lights are off or what? Do you have automatic lights in your car, are they turning on and off as you travel? I know some, if not most, import cars are very sensitive with that. I live in a wooded area and whenever an import is behind me, I see that their lights turn on/off very often as the sun is being shaded by the trees. Of course there are areas where the sun can get through for a few seconds. So the headlights will be constantly turning on and off through out their 3 mile drive on that road. Where as my car, a Cadillac, will keep the lights on because they were smart and put a "what if delay" in the system. Basically it "saw" the sun, but it wasn't shiny for a long time (roughly 15-20 seconds) so it will keep my headlights on. KOT
