RYCO13
is there a product that can make it possible to watch local tv stations on my D3? ( other that an entire VCR) thanks.
HiFiSi
Well I guess it would have to be some sort of TV tuner add on. Here's a few Pioneer models, but although some say they work with the D1 and D2, they say nothing about the D3. I'd ask Pioneer if they are compatible or not. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... 21,00.html http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... 96,00.html http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... 66,00.html http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... 45,00.html
PaisanNYC
Yes you will need an aftermarket add on and plug it into the AV ports on your unit, since you cannot use the Pioneer tv tuners with a D3. The pioneer tv tuners have been discontinued and very hard to come by anyways. Check this one out. I like shopping from this site. Has never failed me yet: http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_you ... HiFiSi
How the hell do you hook up cable television in a car?
myvekdrifters
You can't unless the closest thing you can use is a direct tv hanging on top of your car every where you go. Plus you have to have it facing in a certain direction, I believe south. (sarcasm)
HiFiSi
Well, the unit in the link up there says it's a cable TV tuner. Probably just on there to dupe idiots into buying it.
PaisanNYC
its just a 4 ch diversity antenna controlled tv tuner for real cheap. it works pretty good too in my friend's car, but we live in the city so reception is always good around here.

The antenna is the size of toilet seat. It mounts to the roof rack of your vehicle and as you drive it rotates to provide the dish with constant service. If your an existing D* customer than the mobile service is only $5 more. Of course the Tracvision system has a MSRP of $2995.
HiFiSi
$3000 for satellite TV in my car? Where do I sign up?
Raiden
What a deal!!!!! I could record my tv from home and record it on a 30 cents dvd but I think the satellite solution is much better, for the price at least!!!
Raiden
By the way... http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9948

I live in the phoenix az area so I'm sure the tv signals are going to be strong enough. but I'd like to know it works with the d3 before I buy it. thanks
k.tuner
tracvision is one solution ...accelle electronics as well as a few others make their own version of tracvision expensive but available price is constantly going down like most things ...one reason is the push for all in one units such as the hyundai yes hyundai comapny not car has an all in one except cable a dd unit that does everything from internet phone email navi all mpeg form etc not avail yet was released 3 years ago ces show is going to be brought here under a different label there are already 2 units from other companies being marketed in the us..... what does that mean for d-3 .... that tv is not far off and price is going to keep going down alot over the next 18 months as these new units make market share and the demand for tv grows so for all the people with d-3's who want tv be patient it is already in the works....as far as current conditions i would think good amplified antenna's a tv tuner pack to the aux in would do the trick as for reception you could have the tuner tweaked by a tech with a dummy load for the antenna's and dial them in so to speak would also ask the tech for placement of antenna ...wave propagation is important ya know....anyways just spit ballin that let me know if that works....
