  1. Glad you got it done. The shop where I had mine installed performed the bypass. All I had to do was ground the parking brake wire. Which took all of 5 minutes.

    D3 and the TV

Actually, if you had a SUV (or a Dodge Magnum etc) You could get a product called Tracvision. The antenna is the size of toilet seat. It mounts to the roof rack of your vehicle and as you drive it rotates to provide the dish with constant service. If your an existing D* customer than the mobile service is only $5 more. Of course the Tracvision system has a MSRP of $2995.

    D3 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve is this. That the left and right hard buttons (if you were in CD mode they select tracks) don't go through the radio presets. It's not that big of a deal, but if I have the map up and I want to go from radio preset 1 to radio preset 2, I have to bring the tuner screen back up and select the preset from the screen. Instead of just hitting the left/right key to go through my presets. Also not including RDS was an oversight.
  4. I use the navigation once or twice a week. I was just curious as to how many times others used it.
  5. I couldn't imagine using Slingbox on the EDGE network. I use Slingbox on my 700wx with 3G EVDO and its sometimes shaky. Back on topic. I also wondered whether the iPhone would plug into to D3?
  6. When I have to press the preset button on the screen I have take my eyes off the road, look down and press the button. Hoping that I don't miss the button on the screen. By pressing the hard buttons at least I can feel them and not take my eyes off the road.
  7. It's not as bad as it seems. I was worried about the one disc slot when I first was looking at the D3. I ended up buying a used iPod off of fleabay ($100) and I haven't taken the nav disc out since.
  8. Previously I had a Tom Tom and you could enter a destination by intersection. This would be helpful because sometimes when meeting with clients all he/she can provide is a intersection and not an address. Thanks
  9. Double check your grounds. If that doesn't work perform a reset.
  10. What I've found is that sometimes pressing the Menu button will take you back to the list of songs on the Album. If I cut the unit off and restart the unit, the Menu button doesn't work anymore. Once I re-select an album the Menu button works again and will take me back to album list again. (hope that makes sense, I think I confused myself ) The iPod controls do need to be worked on. If I know what songs I want to listen to before I get in the car. I will add them to the "on the go" playlist on the iPod and than navigate to that playlist on the D3.
  11. If you are refering to the text that accompanies RDS, the D3 does not have RDS. RDS: provides Artist, Song, Station etc.
  12. I also was looking at the D2 vs. D3. I ended up getting the D3. Like someone else said with my iPod connected I never take the Nav disc out. The single cable connection for the iPod was also a selling point of the D3 for me. I don't watch DVD's while driving but the ability to have my passengers watch movies is what sold me on the D3. At first I thought that glare would be an issue with the D3 and I was leaning towards the D2. After having the D3 installed my fears were uncalled for. Since both units are considerably more expensive than the average headunit I wanted to g
  13. I thought these discs were $250.00 when purchased from Pioneer. http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/par ... um=CPJ1183 Is there something I'm missing here.
  14. Here's what I paid for mine (line by line) Pioneer AVIC D3: $1000 Metra GMOS (Onstar Harness): $180 Soundgate Steering Wheel Control: $89 Dash Kit: $35 Ipod Cable: $30 Installation: $150 (that's for everything: Ipod Cable in glovebox, steering wheel controls, etc) I didn't get the bluetooth installed either but I was quoted a price of $175. That's with installation. Like someone said earlier, with the dash apart most of the accessories are very easy to install. $105 to run a iPod cable, tell the installer I have a bridge in New York for sale. BTW the car is 2006 Chevy
