nowandthen
Set the fader to 10 rear. Turn the car off and back on and it's back to 0 all around. I see nothing in the manual about needing to do something special to make it remember. It holds all other settings that I am aware of. Bought it from Crutchfield and will call them, but thought I'd ask here first.
ScottinPollock
I don't have an answer for why your's behaves differently than mine, but the fader setting here is remembered after the car is turned off and back on.
nowandthen
Thanks!, I'll call Crutchfield.
nowandthen
So I finally got around to trying to solve this issue. Called Crutchfield a couple of months ago. Rep said to reflash the iMaestro. Eh, don't feel like taking the dash apart today... Called again today, Rep 2, same response, reflash iMaestro. So tonight I took the dash apart and reflashed the iMaestro. Same result, fader settings do not save once car is turned off. Called Crutchfield, third rep almost immediately found a tech note stating it was a Pioneer issue and a firmware upgrade is needed. Unfortunately, Pioneer is not playing nice. I have the latest firmware for the AVH-4100NEX installed, V1.03 dated 3-23-2015. 5 months and no update. Boo Pioneer! I am surprised no one else has commented on this. At least my search for "fader" did not turn up this issue.
icbt
Ugh. I just purchased this unit with a Maestro as well and I'm having the exact same problem. It's driving me nuts. I called Crutchfield and they were stumped. I've tried two units and they both exhibited the same problem. You're probably right that it's a firmware issue and Pioneer needs to fix it, but what are the chances they never fix it?

Pioneer has updated the software for all the other models but so far not for the 4100. ??? They all have firmware dates of 07-15-2015. Hopefully that is coming soon. They even updated the the older 4000NEX. Only the 4100NEX is lacking the update. The descriptions of the updated firmware state "iDataLink® Maestro™ & Apple CarPlay™ Firmware Update for..." and then the various model numbers. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Support/Downloads I just sent them a message through their web site asking when the update will be available. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/AboutPioneer/Contact+Us Perhaps more people contacting them will get us an update. icbt
I just submitted a message through their website too. I'll post back if I hear anything. It is frustrating to see potential bug fixes for other models while ours sits stagnat. Actually it looks like all of the Android Auto models have not been updated. I'm still within the return window and I'm debating on sending it back to Crutchfield until this gets resolved.
nowandthen
Received a message from Pioneer on Tuesday. Here's their reply: "Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. The latest firmware on all the new NEX series is 1.03. You may be looking at the firmware released for last year products, like the AVH-4000NEX. They released the 1.10 for iDatalink issues and other things. At this time there are no plans to release another update for the AVH-4100NEX. Is this issue only when you use the iDatalink adapter? If so, have you reached out to them for assistance? If it happens regardless of iDatalink being connected, I could suspect a memory issue within the stereo." I'm not sure what I have to do to get the iDatalink out of the path to test if it is the head unit or the iDatalink.
icbt
I figured this would be their response. Upon further inspection of the Maestro site it looks like none of the Pioneer units support the digital fader. However, both Kenwood and Alpine do support it. Unfortunately I think I may just return this lovely unit because not having fade functionality really stinks for the money. Thanks for the update. I received a generic response with no meat to it. My reply to that message has gone unanswered.
kcdc
You could opt for another device than the Maestro since it is not officially supported. Since you don't get any of the fancy stuff the maestro can do with the pionner units anyway, it's kind of a waste of money IMO. I use an AXXESS AWSC-1 and everything works prefect, including all steering wheel controls, including the push to talk for siri/android. May be a cheaper option to just switch out your interface module, get your money back on the Maestro. If you do go this route, please solder all connections, don't just crimp or twist, needs solid connection, but worth it.
nowandthen
Thanks kcdc, I looked that up. Generally good reviews but seems to take some fussing to make it work (poor instructions). I'm pretty handy so I'm sure I can get it working. However I am not thrilled that I have to cut my harness. Soldering however is no problem, I do it all the time. I have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (4 door). The rear speakers are the sound bar speakers, and even though I replaced the speakers I am not exactly thrilled with the sound bar speaker performance. I guess it's more of the principal, if I set the fader it should stay set. Great to know there is another option. Thank you!

I am looking to add another Pioneer 4100NEX to another vehicle (I like Pioneer and don't want to deal with buying and returning other brands, been there, done that). Crutchfield likes to bundle the iMaestro with this unit then states in red "This wiring interface will not retain fader control with the Premium Bose® system" (Bose is the system in my Chevy). What is not clear to me is the AWSC-1, which does not give this warning by Crutchfield, I'm trying to figure out if The ASWC-1 has anything to do with fader control? Fader is not controlled by the steering wheel and the ASWC-1 is a steering wheel controls adapter.
hughes.ryan85
Hey guys. I’m having this problem too. I have a DMH4600NEX. SAME FADER ISSUE. With an RR Maestro. I have FW version 3.0. Still seems to be there. Did you guys ever come up with anything?
