Yep, was talking about this with my buddy who just bought a Mercedes. He already has Here maps in his 2016 model.

Here is to hoping that we can continue to get updates via a pre existing contract, otherwise... CarPlay/AndroidAuto just became all the more important.

I can't see NEX map updates not being available, heck at the price you have to pay for an update, they would be missing that revenue. Now we know why AVICSYNC is still not available. (theory)

I doubt we'll get stranded without updates.

 

On the contrary, I hope we get cheaper and more updated updates.

Here in Brazil last licensed map is 2014.Q2

last mounth, Nokia Here launched 2015.Q1 map, but i can't install in my F960BT
It is full funcional with Old Igo Maps (unblocked)
But with NEX units, we need licenses to run that

it's a shame
