stypert10
Does anyone know if video output is suppressed on the iPod touch? Just wondering since the output is only reserved for apple products on the iPod classic.
HiFiSi
Yes. None of the new apple ipods will play video on the D3, which includes the nano, classic, touch, and the iphone.
stypert10
that's pretty lame on apple's part.
HiFiSi
Indeed.
knight20
So, one of the major reasons why the iPod became so popular was because there are litterally thousands of add-ons to the iPod, from skins to jukeboxes to "adaptors". Anyone else think it's ironic now that they are trying to limit all these add-ons.
HiFiSi
Well the thing is, Apple couldn't give half a shit how many ipod accessories other companies sell, because that doesn't really make them any money. So they change it so you have to use Apple's accessories if you want the ipod to work right. Which makes it so you have to use their accessories instead of another company's, making them more money. It's actually kinda smart from a marketing standpoint.
cheekster
Anyone able to confirm if the new Cover Flow feature on iPod Classic etc will display on an Avic-D3 correctly and can then be controlled using the Avic's touch screen? Thanks. Cheekster.

Anyone that makes a cable must pay Apple a "spiff" for everyone produced. I don't recall the exact dollar amounts, but it something like $3 if it just charges, and $5 if it charges and plays audio. cheekster
What does turning Video Output on the iPod to "on" offer? Can you flick through the album covers like you can using iTunes on a computer? Cheekster.
HiFiSi
It lets you play videos stored on your ipod on the D3.

Thanks. Cheekster. No, that is a limitation of the D3. It will never be possible wirhout a firmware update to he D3.
cheekster
That's a shame, for now will stick with my generation 5.5 Video iPod 80GB in that case. Cheekster.
stypert10
pioneer and apple should get together and make babies. i wish the D3 displayed album art, and it would be sweet if cover flow worked with the D3.
