I think I tricked the Z2 to copy my mp3s

Recommended Posts

Hi, first post.

I've only had my Z2 for about a week now and I was trying to upload new backgrounds while using the rest of a cd-r space on the same cd-r to make a mp3 cd (I was unaware at the time this would not work for what I wanted).

I made a "mixed-mode" cd using Roxio Creater Classic build 7.0.353.0 ENU. I put a folder on the cd called "Pictures" that was 1.30mb with 11 .jpg files. I then filled the rest with .mp3's I downloaded using BitTorrent about 2 months ago

After I loaded the cd into my Z2 I could not access the "load from disc" button under "Change Background Images" So I went to AV and tried to listed to the .mp3s. This worked but there were no names on the files just a "-". I then realized that the songs were being recorded to the HDD :P !!! I let 'em rip and low and behold they played from the library  !!!

Let me know what you think. -Fresh50

p.s. My unit is bone stock (untill friday) with only the PK Brake wire grounded. I have software ver 2.00.

Even if they aren't mp3 format, I thought only legal CD's were able to be copied to the HDD. So a plus to find out I can put some muzac on there.

You can use any audio cd, but it will only name the tracks for you automatically IF they are legit/legal CD's and IF its in the database. But it will rip any audio cd you stick in there.

nope, it will list the songs if you put cd-text on the cd.
