macusers
I've been trying to buy the upgrade dvd rom for the z1 to z2 upgrade since late July until now. I can't seem to find any place that will do the upgrade nor does Pioneer have the DVD's for sale for $250. I've supposivly been on a waiting list since July but havent heard anything about the new DVD comiing out. If someone can tell me where I can purchase a dvd or a place that can do the upgrade, I would greatly apprecitate it. I live in Virginia Beach, VA. djmixmac
I can't seem to locate any online vendor or store either. I just don't want to do the HD swap.
macusers
yea, I've called several dealers who informed me that they would order the DVD and I would have to install it... which would be great if only pioneer had them to sell. Im hoping someone from this forum can send me a lead or something. Thanks Macusers
macusers
Does anyone know when Pioneer will release another DVD set for the upgrade? I can't get a straight answer... Thanks macuser
Derf
This guy is a member here. http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-Avic-Z1-Z2- ... dZViewItem I know you said you didn't want to swap drives, but it's so easy and everything works perfectly. I bought one almost 2 months ago and have not had a single issue.

hrngffcr
I'm sure this is a naive question, but where do the replacement hard drives come from that are being sold on eBay? Did someone copy the info on a Z2 hardrive and then make copies on blank hard drives, and is there some potential copyright liability here or possibility for long-term problems (although I realize you keep your Z1 hard drive)? Or are these hard drives with Z2 info that anyone can legitimately acquire (apparently outside Pioneer)? I want to get my Z1 updated, and it is tempting to do the HDD switch since it purports to convert the Z1 to a Z2 at half the price of the update discs. While the HDD replacement apparently works according to other posters and the feedback on the eBay site, I just would prefer to avoid solutions to upgrading which are in the hacked and/or unofficial sphere. I searched and did not find the answers to the above questions elsewhere on the site. If there is a thread which answers them I would appreciate being directed there. Thanks for the help. djmixmac
I have so much music on my HDD that I cannot find again so I personally want to use the UPDATE DVD. Tons of phonebook and address book entries too. LOL by the time the DVD is available, I bet the Z3 would have been released
