Paintballbreak
i did try it on my tv at home it worked perfectly and it also plays from an sd card the plan is that i will route the rca from the d1 and into the glove box where the hdd player will be my friend who is an expert at electronics will create a power cable for me by using the power tip and by taking apart a phone charger the great thing about this device is that it takes 5v to power it and basically that is a usb plug i dont know yet about the static from the alternator but i will keep an eye out for that tommorow some pics from my camera
BobyYoo
yeah that is the thing, it will work perfect at home, but once you plug it in the car, if the adapter is no good, it will pickup all the static from your alternator.
Paintballbreak
well since we will be reusing as phone adapter it shouldnt be a problem and we will make sure to wrap it in electrical tape
BobyYoo
i just bought one on ebay, but i found this website has it for cheaper http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8822 it work well at home. I didn't try it yet on my car. I gotta find an adapter for it to use in the car. maybe i'll just get a small cigarette inverter, those that convert 12v to 120v and just use the home adapter. BobyYoo
well since we will be reusing as phone adapter it shouldnt be a problem and we will make sure to wrap it in electrical tape btw, make sure you phone adapter have enought mA the adapter that came with it has 2000mA i tried to use an universal adapter that has 500mA and it did not work. It was not strong enought to power the hard drive.
Paintballbreak
yes I got it to work I will post pictures tommorow on my first post what i used to power the hard drive player was a xm/sirus cigarette lighter adapter that cranked out 6v and 1000mA. This is good enough for it and my 80b seagate hdd if anyone has any questions I will be more then glad to help. Detailed pics soon o btw, I realized that I didnt do the bypass so i just did it and works flawlessly
BobyYoo
so it worked well on the car while running?? No static or line that goes up and down?
Paintballbreak
yes it did work perfectly running the wire was the worst part...lol
PaisanNYC
I have the Vantec AVOX player with 120GB harddrive. If yours runs on 5v2a like mine does, an OEM Sony PSP adapter works great. Had it on my N3 for over a year now and had it professionally hardwired into my Expedition last summer.
BobyYoo
thanks for the tips, yes ours run on 5.6v with 2000mah So it should work, i'll get the psp cigarette charger.
PaisanNYC
remember it has to be an original OEM SONY ciagrette PSP adapter, not one of the aftermarket off-brand names.
BobyYoo
hmmm really, the aftermarket is that crappy?? have you tried ?
BobyYoo
i think i know why you said only oem, because those aftermarket only supply 500mah and we need 2000mah. OEM cost $30, that is way too much. this ebay seller is selling the adapter that comes with his hdd player. http://cgi.ebay.com/Car-auto-adaptor-12 ... dZViewItem
Paintballbreak
see i think the 2000mah are needed upon start up for the hard drive to spin but my friend said that the xm adpater i used which puts out 6v/1000mah is good because it makes up in volts. Either way you should be good to go sony psp oem xm/sirius adapter or hdd player adapter
