KingkonG.RL
has anyone installed a computer to the d3? there must be a way to get hte touch screen to work that would be frickin awesome. if anyone has some insight lemme know. im putting one in soon
HiFiSi
seems kinda pointless to me... Anyway, The touch screen has no way to send input to an external computer, so no. Why even bother getting the D3 in the first place? Just get a computer and hook it to a standalone LCD.
KingkonG.RL
i already have a d3
HiFiSi
I just don't see what a carputer would get you that you can't use the D3 for with a lot less effort and money.

GnatGoSplat
You can do that with an iPod, but that's much higher cost per GB and not as simple as copying to a hard drive. An iPod is still cheaper than a whole computer though. If it has to be a hard drive, it would be better/cleaner to build a carputer and omit the D3 entirely.
HiFiSi
Step 1: Remove and sell the D3. Step 2: Install car computer. Pretty simple, really. If you have a car computer, you don't need the D3 in the first place.
KingkonG.RL
i bet you i can get a computer running in my car for under 100 bucks (but i already have the harddrive) im starting it after xmas, too much work right now but u shalll see. the touch screen wont work unfortunatly but ill have a touch pad... ahhh if only it had a vga port, then i could get the touchscreen to work
GnatGoSplat
I'm not sure what you mean, VGA doesn't carry touchscreen signals. You can always convert VGA to composite, although even the cheapest PC video cards have onboard TV-out these days so VGA isn't required.
KingkonG.RL
ya through the vga you can get the touch screen to work with the right drivers.. anyway im gona connect it with the s-vid and have a touchpad in there somewhere
GnatGoSplat
Nope, VGA has no touchscreen signals. Here's a pinout. Every touchscreen monitor for carputer use has a separate USB cable for the touchscreen in addition to VGA which only carries video.
ChristopherLCamacho
+1, every touch screen I've seen always had a VGA for VIDEO ONLY and USB for TOUCHSCREEN options.
