What you can try if your destination route seems extra long!

I know everyone complains about the Avics picking the longest route possible when navigating. I never saw anyone mention this, so I will. If you go into the menu under Route options, set the amount of routes from 1 to Multiple. This will cause the nav to find 6 different routes each for fast or short options to your destination. So you can get 6-12 different routes to your destination and pick the shortest/quickest one. It's still not gonna be great, but you'll have more than one choice.

That's what that does? I thought it was for inputting routes to (and from) multiple destinations.

Nope, it gives you six choices. If you hit next, it goes to the next and shows it as a different color on the screen. It also gives you the total mileage and estimated time

Yup, and if you change from short to fast and vice versa, you can get up to 6 more routes, but some might be the same as one of the other choices that came up before you switched from short to fast.

I actually learned it by reading the manual on my lunch break. I was looking for something else and came across that.
