  1. The downgrade procedure worked just fine. Thanks for sending a replacement disk; hopefully that'll do the trick. Brent
  2. Has anyone had issues where one day, they could no longer get any maps to display on their D3? I have the West Region 90MT disc via SWDW / Mike. Everything was fine for a month - and this morning, the map display died. Radio, iPod, Steering Wheel control work - just cannot get any map to ever come up. I did a reset of the entire nav unit (ball point pen next to the eject button), removed and re-inserted the disc - but I can never get the nav system to ever display a map. When I do the ball point pen reset of the unit (90MT disc is in the unit) - it tells me it is checking the dis
  3. I've noticed this drawback on the D3 as well - any way to sort the list differently on the D3? Brent
  4. I've never installed or removed a car stereo before...and managed to install the D3 (w/ Bypass) just fine. The hardest part for me was to neatly hide the ipod wire - and route the gps wire. Of which both took minimal effort. After doing this myself, I'm amazed at the prices best buy/circuit city charge to do this. I was surprised at the simplicity of the bypass - it was so easy, I thought for sure I had missed a step. But no, it worked flawlessly. Good luck! Brent
  5. ironic; just got my unit installed today and my wife and I noticed this sporatic behavior with the 'menu' button the iPod interface.
  6. Hey Guys- I'm a complete stereo install novice... So crutchfield sent me the mounting hardware (one plastic piece for the front, two plastic pieces for the sides, one plastic piece for the back). I'm reading the install guide, and it tells me to remove the mounting pieces off of my existing factory unit - and attach to the D3. I'm a little confused; the plastic pieces that crutchfield sent me - is that enough to mount this thing (granted, i'd have to use the right screws/bolts)...or, will I be using crutchfield-provided plastic pieces with some old metal pieces from my (old) fac
  7. Hello- I'm currently installing my D3; the only questionable area is whether or not my VSS wire is appropriately connected. For my car ('04 Ford Explorer XLT), I've seen three different locations for the VSS - but now I'd like to know how I can easily tell if I've connected to the right VSS. Thanks! Brent
  8. Cool; thanks for the confirmation. Brent
  9. Hi- I was curious if anyone on this thread was able to verify the location of the VSS and Reverse Signal wires on an '06 Ford Explorer. I have an '06 Explorer XLT; no factory subwolfer, 6-disc in-dash player. Thanks! Brent
  10. I echo what petejonesrn asked - definitely curious on what the bypass is technically doing. Brent
  11. Hey Guys- Any drawbacks to mounting the GPS antenna on the front dash - specifically, where the windshield meets the dash? This would be for an '04 Explorer. Also, I'd be interested to hear some of the easier locations people have mounted their antenna. Brent
  12. Thanks for providing all of the great pictures; install looks great! You mentioned in your Cons section that: 'Select iPod videos through iPod itself and not directly through headunit'. This is the first I'm hearing about this...you cannot browse your iPod videos via the Avic-D3? Brent
