Hello,

i've seen a lot of reply from people with F90BT telling that the hack works great, what about the F700BT ?

Also, anyone know a way (hardware) to raise my rca signal a little, im still using the factory bose amps in my 350z and i think that it use 2.0v instead of 1.7v ?

Thanks

Ritch

The bypass is the exact same for the 700.

And you can't up the voltage of the RCA outputs. You can, however, go into the audio settings and raise the SLA up some to increase the volume for that audio/video source. You could also use a line out converter on the speaker outputs instead of using the RCA outputs.

Going to give this a shot, as I have to put the mic connection on my unit in. I forgot that cable when I was putting everything together. Stupid me but, I would have had to get back in there to do this hack. Looks easy enough and report back. I hope to do this tonight if I have time and if it is not terribly hot outside. :)

Thanks for all the input guys. Makes things easier to get things done. :)

Bypass worked for me.

Avic F90BT w/ the update.

one way to get around the low voltage (except the 90) pre-outs is to either buy a LINE DRIVER, which is basically like a preout amp... or get some type of equalizer and stuff it in your trunk... it would take the 2.2v and up it to 5-7v...

good call. thats even higher than what the 90BT offers.

Thanks ! Looking for that on ebay right now :)

ok, tried the hack. And after some time. I have not gotten it to work. :(

I am pretty sure I have that cable in there as far as it can go, cause I see it (Mute wire in placed between the two black wires in the 4th spot on the bottom row). I see it all the way up to the top to make the connection.

However, I now have another problem with grounding noise. So I have to go back in there to double check this. Not easy to test before putting radio completely in when it comes to my car. You have to take apart most of the console and dash in order to get to it. Its a Major PITA, so I couldn't check it out before I put it all back. I hope it doesn't rain today so I can get in there and try it again. :(

I just Recently bought the AVIC-F900BT. I would like to know how to bypass it so I can use the dvd and the navigation while driving? I will install it in a 2008 Ford F250 and want to know if I can use the PAC SWI-PS - Pioneer and Sony Steering Wheel Radio Control Interface with my truck and this radio. I also have an old Iphone can i use the Pioneer CD-IU230V to see videos on this screen or do I need the usb and composite apple cable?

PS What about the pink speed signal input and the violet/white reverse gear signal input do those still get connected after you do the bypass by moving the mute wire and grounding both the mute wire and parking brake wire?

goto the 1st page of this thread it tells you exactly how to bypass it. swi-ps will work. either the cd-iu230v or the apple ipod composite cable wil work. the bypass has no effect on the VSS or reverse wires.

Posted Aug 03, 2008 · 01:50 UTC#162

So it doesnt matter if the vss or reverse wires are connected or not it will work either way? Thanks alot by the way

Posted Aug 03, 2008 · 02:38 UTC#163

Right. No other connections are effected by the bypass nor do they effect the bypass in any way.

Posted Aug 03, 2008 · 06:49 UTC#164

Can I use a swi with the mod on a f900bt. If I add an additional wire to the harness cam I still use the mute wire with thw swi-ps interface?

Posted Aug 03, 2008 · 18:58 UTC#165

I don't think the SWI-PS needs the mute wire as you only make one connection from the SWI-PS to the unit.

I think the mute wire is in-case you have some other AV equipment in your car that might need the AVIC to mute - say some other sort of telephone equipment etc.

the mute wire is for if you use an aftermarket bluetooth unit. not needed if you use the pioneer BT

Ya!!!!! :D

All working now!! So happy! Thanks for the help guys. This of issue though.

1) I have that wonderful hum sound still. not as bad, but its there sometimes. So, I guess I need to find a better ground area?

2)iPod touch doesn't work. I played a video with my girlfriends iPod and that works fine. Video while driving.

Can't wait till someone fixes that. :(

Has anyone installed the HD radio module and still got the bypass to work? The bypass was working great on my unit until I plugged in the HD radio module. Now I get the parking brake error message when the unit boots up and can't program routes/play video when the car is moving. I'm going to take the dash apart AGAIN tonight to see if the ground or pin came loose. But the same thing happened when I installed the unit yesterday so I think something about the HD radio plug is interfering with the bypass. Any help is appreciated!

Yes. I have HD Radio and my bypass works fine.

I would say you are on the right track. Double check that connection.

n/m wrong post haha

Posted Aug 15, 2008 · 15:22 UTC#172

so what if you don't use those rca wires, not want to use the small white connector.

i was thinking of using a small jumper what you find on 2.5" hard drives for master / slave configuration and put it on pin 4 & 5.

pin 4 where you normally put the yellow mute wire and pin 5 is a ground wire of one of the video leads.

not sure if this is possible since on my avic-f900bt i only have the green parking brake wire to ground and i can use the navigation and phone while driving. did try and dvd yet.

Posted Aug 15, 2008 · 15:31 UTC#173

Not 100% sure if that will work... if that ground for the video lead is able to support thr amount of ground needed for the pin location for the bypass, then it might work... but is that video lead ground active all the time or only when that video in or out normally be in use? And what if that ground lead isn't capable of providing enough ground? Will it burn out that ground and cause that video lead to not work any more... or worse? I think it would be better to just solder a wire (or whatever other method you can think of) to the proper pin and ground it normally just to be sure.

Posted Aug 18, 2008 · 20:09 UTC#174

funny, i only have the green park brake wire to ground and i could play a mp4 video (hak5 podcast 113) from the sd card while driving

Posted Aug 21, 2008 · 08:30 UTC#175

I have tried this with the new the firmware installed; it doesn't seem to work on my unit. I'm getting +5v after moving the pin; when i ground that the error message goes away, but as soon as I move faster than 10mph; the error message comes back interupting the video.

Wondering if its because of the new firmware? :?

The fix does work, however if you unplug the GPS antenna; then you get Samantha saying GPS Signal is lost one time but the video is playing.

I suppose i can install a hidden bypass switch for the gps.

Any other suggestions would be just too cool.

1999 Jaguar XJR : 25000 miles, so it's sweet, but getting this unit in this car is a major rennovation and custom work to remove the metal bars in the dash ect; but there is room... working on the custom plate now.

I also installed the Peripheral PESWIPS Universal Sterring Wheel Control Interface to the 900; works great.
