But when i use the original european data.zip with your mods the error message is still the same. I have no clue.

Could you please upload your data.zip? Then i will try it with mine sys.txt.

Your mods looks great so i want to use them..

Thanks..

Is there an actual error message, or it is just stuck on the Loading screen?

This is on a free link so there's a download limit. Grab it while its hot :)

Thanks very much! What a fast response! I wil try it tonight together with the license for all maps. it looks like this will be a great evening for my avic 900bt. Thanks for your effort, boris!

Oh ya, can i use my sys.txt in combination with your data.zip?

Posted Nov 17, 2008 · 19:27 UTC#153

You're welcome

Yes, you do want to use your SYS.TXT...

Posted Nov 17, 2008 · 20:21 UTC#154
Lava's data.zip is similar to mine, and I have not been able to get boris's mods to work either. Something conflicts between our two set ups and I am definitely having difficulty figuring it out.

It works fine for me.

You may want to try starting over with a fresh data.zip 2.0

1. upload boris mod folder, but remove the 2 navigate files (i removed the msn file also)

2. load avic to make sure his mods are there and maps work

3. upload your data.zip and fonts and sys.txt (i used lava file cause it didnt have the truck icon)

4. after reboot everything just worked fine besides the not being able to change the route info such as arrival time.

I'm not sure if it's the hack for the street numbers, or the unit itself.. but the numbers are definitely off for me. I was directed to an address but the number was incorrect-- it was actually down the street a little. Also, parked outside my house the numbers don't line up, and on a street with #'s 1-40 I was outside #3 and it said #99.

Is this because of the hack, or is this just bad map data on the unit itself?

Blame TeleAtlas. I have never seen it being _that_ much off (99 instead of 3) but everywhere I tested it it has been anywhere between spot-on to 10-15 off).

Rumour has it that iGO 8.3 (if we ever get it) can use Navteq maps which should be more accurate, at least in North America...

It's not rumour. I have both Navteq and TeleAtlas maps for Russia, both of them good supported by iGO 8.3.1.

That's what I thought, but NavNGo isn't exactly forthcoming with informaiton, and of course we don't know if Pioneer will have them do a build for AVICs...

WeApOn -

You could try setting it to Simple warning. Technically, it is possibly to have it telling you how mucdh you are speeding and all, but I need to do more skin research to figure out how to do that...

Thanks. I tried simple warning, but it seems like there is no audible alert now? I only saw an on-screen warning. Ideally it would be nice for one sound to play and then go off.

Posted Nov 21, 2008 · 20:12 UTC#160

I have inquired to Boris if an alert mute function is possible. Adding a clickable button to the visual alert box would be a awesome addition t the safety cam mod. Boris, have you had a chance to dig into this yet?

Posted Nov 21, 2008 · 20:46 UTC#161

So far I've seen options to set interval between warnings, and also to only warn when speeding over the camera set speed (obviously does not do much for red light cameras). I'll keep looking, though.

Posted Nov 21, 2008 · 20:54 UTC#162

Is it possible to just code in a mute feature in the same way people have added the nav voice mute feature?

Posted Nov 21, 2008 · 21:02 UTC#163

The code would probably be something like:

if approaching_camera

-display warning

which contains:

-play sound(certain interval)

-OSD warning

-mute/att AV source

If we could just alter that code that is called when the camera is approaching, we could create our own notifications.

Personally, I would like to hear one audible warning, preferably a recorded voice, alerting me that I am approaching the camera. The OSD isn't very distracting, but the constant beeps and lowering of music is.

That is the ideal setup for the cam warnings I think too.

man, you guys are way to smart, I get headaches every time I read and try to understand what the heck you guys are talking about, my hat goes out to you guys and the awesome work you do in these units.

Hey BorisM I see you are in chicago, how about comming to my house and modding my AVIC-F90BT I'll get the beers and pizza.

HAHA jk.

Posted Nov 23, 2008 · 19:06 UTC#166

Hmmm... Make it Pizza Metro and Guinness and you have a deal :)

Somebody is working on redoing the cam warning portion already, so we'll see what happens...

Added to the first post:

Updated setting file that should properly control building visibility settings.

Posted Dec 25, 2008 · 03:39 UTC#168

Boris, I tried the new setting file replacing the ui files on your 2.0 files. it showed a new menu under setting that allows changing the setting of building visibility as expected. however, I could not notice any difference, it seems to have not effect (unless i'm looking the wrong thing) i was expecting to get buildings to show in addition to the common 3d landmarks. I installed the maps 2008.4 NA on my avic and I have the same maps on my IGO8 on my PDA, the PDA show a lot o buildings on Cleveland, but the AVIC only show the 3d landmarks not the buildings.

Do i expect to see the buildings with this mod?

Do I need to do any other mod to show the buildings?

Thanks

Posted Dec 25, 2008 · 03:56 UTC#169

Did you copy the (hacked) EzRider executable and 3DC files for your location?

There's a thread about adding 3D buildings somewhere here... but basically Pioneer only gave us Landmark files but not buildings so you need to add them yourself.

Posted Dec 25, 2008 · 04:09 UTC#170

Boris,

1st wow... thanks for the quick response...

2nd, yes, i installed the hacked ezrider and a new set of maps 2008.4 NA, this includes maps, pois, and buildings (3dl landmarks and 3dc buildings). i made sure that there are 3dl and 3dc files for Ohio. also checked the sys.txt and it contains:

[debug]

enable_buildings=1

Any idea?

By the way i own a 90BT, i don't know if it makes any difference

Posted Dec 25, 2008 · 21:53 UTC#171

This should be all that is needed... Have you tried changing color schemes? Some of them (particulatly day ones) make seeing building difficult...

Posted Jan 05, 2009 · 01:42 UTC#172

Boris, is the latest update all you have done since you sent me the entire zip? I'm trying to go back to original... the shortcuts are really pointless.

Posted Jan 05, 2009 · 03:03 UTC#173

I'll post the latest version of my skin tomorrow, probably...

Posted Jan 05, 2009 · 05:36 UTC#174

Thanks buddy!

Posted Jan 09, 2009 · 05:24 UTC#175

Boris,

I finally managed to get the 3d city buildings to show (*.3dc) i was just missing the right license file... anyways... now that i can see the buildings, i noticed that the unit is rendering only the 3d models not the textures (i mean, only 3d transparent blocks). On my PDA version the buildings get transparent only when you are close to them (so you are able to see the roads behind) but other buildings are rendered with their proper texture (showing buildings with windows, and other details) any idea of how to get the unit to display the textures in the building?

i tried with "use_all_building_textures=1" under the [3d] section of the sys.txt with not luck.

any ideas?

Thanks
