Maverickster's Mods - UPDATED 12/9/08
First off d/l Mavs' DATA.zip again and do a fresh install, see how that goes
SO YOUR SAYING DELETE THE DATA FILE AND REPLACE WITH A FREASH MAV FILE OR INSTALL MY ORIGINAL DATA FILE
1- Delete your original d/l of Mavs' DATA.zip
2- D/l a new copy of Mavs' DATA.zip. and install to root of your SD card
3- Also install TestMode and MiTACAP to SD card root
4- Put SD card into Avic and boot into TestMode
5- Go to >MyFlashDisk>APL2>iGO and delete DATA.zip
6- Go back to SD card and copy DATA.zip (the new one) then paste into iGO folder
That should be it, and you will be ready to go
i did what you said and downloaded mavs file againand everything works fine except the map confirmation screen. sometimes the button disappears and i have to hit the map button to bring it back even though it doesn't work. all i did was load mavs file in to the avic without any changes. dont have any idea why this is happening.
I tried download mcast25 text file and copying the text into mavs ui file. i cant get it to work, it just gets hung up in the system starting and wont load from there. am i doing something wrong. it seems that everything i do isnt working and i am very good with computers. this is really frustrating me. any help would be greatly appreciated. ![]()
thank you

you need to follow simple instructions... what did you miss on page one?
i feel like a total noob:
i right clicked on mcast25 second link and saved his ui.text file to my computer. then i opened the .ui file from mavs mod and copied in the text from mcast25 .ui.txt file. then i saved the .ui file and pasted into the avic. when i do this it doesnt get past the system starting screen. it seems simple but it wont work. i have done 3 or 4 times.
i went thru mcast25 .ui file and just copied in the changes he made to mavs file into mavs file. still not working. could it be that he posted the wrong .ui file again. i dont understand what is going wrong. that setup is perfect and is exactly what i am looking for. if someone could help me figure this out i would really be psyched. i still cant get the MAP CONFIRMATION SCREEN BUTTON to work. i know i am being a pain in the as*, but i just want this radio to work right for me. any help would be great.
thanks
SPEEDO/ALTIMETER/ROUTE INFO MOD
Step 1: To remove the Map Scale, open up and search through the code of every file in the DATA/ui_pioneer/common/ui folder in the DATA.zip file. The following code should be changed as follows EVERYWHERE it appears:
Replace this:
map.ZOOMCONTROL_SHOW 1
with this
map.ZOOMCONTROL_SHOW 0
so what ui files have this? any easier way for the mapscale not to show up?
Thank you Mav and others for all the work. I am new to forum, have completed all the little tweaks to system and now with your hard work I am Mostly perfect. Will deal with the Ipod Cover art thing.
Thanks again, can't say enough.

i have been trying to combine mcast25's ui file with mav's data file and have been unsuccessful. any help would be great. i also have been trying to figure out why the map confirmation screen button doesn't work. it works when you push the very right bottom of the button. does anyone have a fix for this? any help would be great thanks
Thanks a lot Mcast25. I finally got it to work. the problem was that i was using winzip and not 7zip. Anyway your file works great. This is the best forum around, the mods are great.
First off, thanks for this fantastic mod Maverickster! My old eyeballs had a hard time seeing that tiny clock and MPH readout. Everything worked for me as described in your OP.
But, I did notice that my ability to ATTENUATE my music during navigation was taken away (grayed out) in the AV Sounds settings. I fixed this by editing your .ui file in your data.zip to remove the mute button from your mod. Now my AV Sound settings allow me to set my music to ATT, and everything else still works as advertised.
Thanks again!

you don't have to mod anything for this. I asked the same question myself before checking. all you have to do is turn off your audio and that setting will be available.

Well sheesh! You are absolutely correct! If my old memory serves me, after I installed the MOD my sound source was ON when I rebooted and the ATT option was gone. After I modified the .ui file and uploaded the modded DATA.ZIP file and rebooted, my sound was OFF for some reason. That is when I noticed I had the option of ATT back. Go figure, something as simple as that. At least I learned how to extract, edit, and recompress a file inside a .zip file with WinRar. Live and learn I guess. Maybe I haven't gotten to that part of the Operation Manual yet. That thing is HUGE! ![]()
That thing is HUGE!
I'm fed up being told that........... ![]()

LOL! I printed that thing out with two pages per side, front and back. What a nightmare! ![]()
Haha tell me about it! I have the 500 so the manual is not as large, but it was still a ball ache printing it off (odds one side, evens other), is this Pioneers idea of saving the planet????? ![]()
just to avoid a whole rack of reading.. If I download his data.zip and just copy it when in WIN CE.. will I get all of these mods?

Yep, that's all there is to it. Don't forget to backup or rename your current data.zip file. Let us know how it goes for ya. ![]()
I want to use this but then how can i add the 3d buildings and landmarks without adding a new data.zip like in this post http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20836
Sorry guys if this is a dumb question.... I've used winrar to view the data.zip file, so that I can chance the navi settings that Maverickster has made for us. However, when I open the .ui files, it's a "read only" file, and I can't make changes to it to adjust the ;clock settings, and so on. For example: when I click on the "navigatemap_800_480.ui" file, it opens up in "notebook" on my pc as a "view" file.
Do I have to unzip the data.zip file first? I ask, because when I modified the parking-brake speed, I only had to open winrar, and "view" the file to change the parking-brake setting. Or ... maybe I have to open this up and change it on the unit in test-mode????
What am I doing wrong that I can't change the text in the .ui files? Also, I'm new to winrar.... sorry that this is obviously a NOOB Q. But, if I DO have to unzip the files to make changes, how to I "re-compress" the files back into the "data.zip" folder to change it out on my unit.... which is a f700bt if anyone cares! ![]()
Thanks for your time - and thanks for the posts!

Just save the changed file to a normal filesystem location and when done, replace the file in the zip with the one you created. Most zip programs will not allow you to edit the file in the zip. It is really not a big issue, particularly when you can just drag and drop into the zip.

It's really easy to make these changes using winrar, don't unzip anything but instead of using winrar's view feature just double click on the file. It'll open up into notepad and you can change whatever you want. After you save and close there will be a prompt within winrar asking if you want to update the archive, choose yes and you're done.
