I assume this works fine on the F90BT also?

Posted Mar 03, 2009 · 04:04 UTC#352

Thanks guys - I got it working without a problem. Except --- The speedo/altimeter MOD. Maverick says we have to delete all occurrences of map.ZOOMVIEW..... Any of you know exactly where they are and how many? Also, he provides the spot for the code, but I don't see what we replace. One more Q - I've seen MOD's for 3D buildings. I'm in Detroit area, but usually in the burbs and not downtown. I've never seen the 3D buildings on the unit before - are they only in the main city areas? I'm not going to bother with the MOD if it won't really apply to me.

Thanks again!

Thanks to Maverickster!!!!

I just installed my new F700BT. While I was waiting for it to arrive I found this great forum. After using the unit 1 day, I knew I wanted Maverickster's hacks. I applied the Parking Brake Speed hack to Maverickster's Data.zip file & now my Nav Unit is much easier to use & I love disabling the annoying voice prompts when I don't need them.

Thanks so much,

Paul

I've heard rumors he is working on such a button for our wives

(mine can give a lot of annoying instructions too)

Or instead of bypassing the parking-brake hack, ENGAGING mute when I'm driving.

Too many posts to read, but has anyone suggested making the clock easier to read when you're on any of the audio screens? I.e. Ipod, FM, etc...

I am not sure if you can edit non-navigation screens. It is not part of the code you can change via the ui files.

Yesterday I replaced my original data.zip with the one from Maverick.

I started it up again and saw all the new buttons and they all seem to work fine.

30 minutes later I tried to start it up again, but now unit seems to turn "dead" after 20/30 minutes or so.

It starts up and I see the splash screen but then the screen turns dark and the unit stops responding.

It is not even possible to boot it in testmode to put the original data.zip file back.

It is a european one with 1.9 firmware.

Anyone has got an idea or solution?

I suggest you download Firmware Update v2.0 and see if you can install that. If successful, delete your copy of Mavs' DATA.zip, download again, and try reinstalling. I'm not sure, but I think his mods were done with v2.0 update.

careful with putting 2.0 on a EUR model!!!

they are different hardware-wise

(curious if it'll work though ;) )

I installed EURO v2.0 on my Euro 500 no prob. Obviously one needs to install correct Region (EU or US) update but also the correct one for that particular model. The update for the 500 is different to the update for the 700/900 models

2.0 is the US version and 1.9 is the same version for European models.

I thought, whatever happened or went wrong, you could always put your original files back via testmode or boot via SD card? In my case that is impossible and the unit seems useless!

EURO v2.0 has never existed for the 900. First you had EURO v1.9 (US v2.0) and the latest one is EURO v.2.001.

Posted Mar 08, 2009 · 14:14 UTC#367

Yep, thats the one I'm running.

As I said I have a Euro 500 and the firmware is v2.001000...... so I would still say that's v2.0, ands NOT 1.9 - wouldn't you?

What program do you use to edit the files and put the modified codes in with? Do you have to extract any of them?

I used Notepad (for the editing) and PS Elements (for the couple of custom buttons I made). No specialized software required.

Hey, Mav,

Just a confirmation. The clickable Zip on the first page IS the latest and greatest Data Zip mods even when using Ipods?? I did'nt find the code for the voice mute though added to the latest version. Should I do this one separately? (***CORRECTION*** I found the voice mute code...:))

Thanx again for all of your hard work and effort!!! :D:D:D

Hey Mav,

Just found this site few days ago, I've been reading through threads like a maniac in the past nights: you rock man!!!

thanks for sharing all your work with us!

I have a question, though, I'm Italian and I'm using a setting in KM/h and meters for altitude, will your mod increase the speed number size and add the altitude even if I have selected metric system? and, basically I'm going to see the speed in kilometers and get the altitude in meters or exactly as you posted in your screen shots in miles and feet?

thanks again,

It's the current version used by me. I don't use an iPod, so it doesn't incorporate any mods to accommodate the iPod cover art (as others have done elsewhere in this thread and on this forum).

It should work that way, yes.
