Thank you very much IAF!!

Small question:

If you have a HD Radio, are the presets now showing the channel name, in the preset listing?

I doubt that. I have an F7010BT. It is my second unit. On my first unit the Bluetooth quit working so I gt the unit swapped out. Upon installing the new unit I expected to have to setup all my HD stations again but they were all there just as they were in my previous unit. This tells me it is the HD unit that is storing the HD station presents and info and is most likely they part that does not have the proper software to display the HD station info. I wish Pioneer would fix this.

There will be a page on Pioneer's website. You will give it your info and serial number, and it generates an activation code for YOUR unit. Also, your not paying for bug fixes, your paying for the 2009 map licensing fee.

This means that a programmer/hacker could make a keygen where a person could put in their serial and generate the necessary activation code, same as has been done with a lot of software apps. Don't know if that will happen but someone could possibly figure that out.

200 Euros is insane. For that you can buy a complete PNA with free Upgrades for 2 years.

No way in hell will I throw more money at this greedy bunch. After 1 year they fix the folder/station skip with steeringwheel control (which should have worked from day 1) and now they want extra money for that?

After selling me 3 CAN Bus adapters to fix the problem (which of course didnt help at all)

I can only say "Scr*** you Pioneer"

I hope someone will post the files as soon as they come out.

Sorry, I am not to strong at coding...but if someone were willing to create a keygen for the update it would be much appreciated...

there is even a tutorial...

I just purchased it, 68.00 total with shipping. Not bad that is half off the normal price of the update for maps and firmware. I think its much better than the 259.00 I had to pay when I had my D3 unit.

Model year 2009 TeleAtlas database on SD Card, featuring nearly 12 million POI, US and Canada coverage (including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico).

Includes firmware version 3.0, including heading-up option in 2D view, Highway Sign Boards, enhanced map UI with improved contrast, and more. Models with built-in MSN Direct will feature 3 additional channels (news, stocks and local events) and traffic flow displayed on map.

Compatible with AVIC F-Series In-Dash navigation systems only (AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT, AVIC-F700BT, AVIC-F7010BT).

I just purchased Firmware version 3.0 for $60 US. Then add $5 for UPS Ground. Thats not a bad deal when you think about it. I know my TomTom map updates were not cheap. Although, it would be nice if they at least had a free firmware option.

just purchased the upgrade for 70$.

Are we able to transfer all the files from the 2 sd cards(3.0 firmware and the map upgrade) into the F90bt? or do we have to keep the sd card in the slot?

I would imagine it transfers all files to the unit. If not, we would lose the SD card external storage ability. Since that's a major selling point, I can't imagine that would be the case.

Follow the instructions, when everything is done, yes remove the SD card...

Has anyone installed in a F700bt? Does it work better?

It won't ship till end of July or beginning of Aug.. you will have to wait till then before we can answer that.

Won't 3.0 be free like they did with 2.0 when it comes out? Just bought a refurb F900bt off ebay wonder what maps it will have on on it year wise?

Posted Jul 07, 2009 · 23:03 UTC#465

Ordered mine today $68.00 shipped not to bad. I am looking foward to the release.

I have 2 of the F500BT's, very happy with them by the way...but do I need to buy 2 upgrades?....I read earlier that they are not asking for your S/N when puchasing the $60 upgrade, how will they control my not using the SD card upgrade on both of my units?

Posted Jul 08, 2009 · 01:15 UTC#467

Why don't we just split it and download it ourselves?

Just ordered mine about 15 minutes ago. I keep hearing people talk about serial numbers and activation key requirements for this update but I was never asked for any of that information upon placeing my order. I think this update will be easly redistrubted and will look into it as soon as I receive it. My bigest concern is the possible loss of testmode...

Posted Jul 08, 2009 · 02:50 UTC#469

testmode?

Posted Jul 08, 2009 · 02:53 UTC#470

Testmode: Where you boot the unit up in Windows CE. If we loose testmode then we loose the software mod...

They dont need to ask you at the time of purchase. They could simply have the single purchaser go to a link and enter the AVIC serial number. This would generate the serial key...... if they do it on the pioneer site and there is nothing on the card for this key generation formula then it may be tough to crack. If they were smart they would have anticipated this and have the serial/key confirmation check on a separate chip on the AVIC MB which would not be accessible by us. Microsoft, for instance cant do it this way because they dont build the computers...

I want to order this but its not listed ont he Canadian pioneer site.

And the US site is asking for a ZIP code which I clearly dont have one.

ARgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg update your Pioneer canada pages.

Posted Jul 08, 2009 · 14:37 UTC#473

and remember..... we still have never cracked the wav file encoding on the AVIC's, it stands today as the holy grail of the AVIC's ( I was personally dissapointed that the community threw in the towel a good while back)..... lets see on this upgrade... the supergeeks that reside here will tell...soon

Bought the unit together with my passat CC in april. Knew about the coming update so asked my dealer to provide me with the latest software in July.

Last week I was called by a Pioneer rep who wanted my address to send me the SD with the latest software.

It should be sent this week so I''ll keep you posted.

If nothing arrives this week I'll try to find out if it is actually delayed.

Received the update and installed it.

First impression:

- startup takes about 50secs now, so pretty pissed off

- the information screen (speed, distance, time to destination) only has 2 lines left instead of 3

- respons on touchscreen is much better

- Now 3D, 2D and 2DNorth display

- traffic signs in Navigation is nice improvement

Sorry for the poor quality pics but took 'm while driving with my BlackBerry.

As I'm a noob with hacking and modding I can't tell you what still works and what doesn't.
