Hi,

Let me introduce myself first: My name is Paul and I live in the Netherlands. I have been playing with hard- and software since pre-personal computer times and still having fun with it.

Anyway, since a week I have a F900BT which Pioneer installed as a swap for a HD3BT which was faulty.

The funny thing is that it has software version 3.000300 on it, while i've not been able to find anything higher than 2.007000 on Pioneers website.

Unfortunately I've not been able to get the thing in testmode, I guess they must have changed enough to prevent that using the SD card trick. The good news is that there is a newer version for the F900 series, and I would be happy to share it if only I could find a way to get into this for now ' black box'.

Any suggestions?

Paul

Did you try testmode v2.3?

At Pioneer's site, says that this update is only for models F910BT and F710BT.

@Avar = Your unit s F900BT or F910BT???

I am downloading the update now and I will have a look. If I find anything, I will let you know... ;)

Yes! I had to test it at home (no SD card writer in the office) and it worked! So now I have a complete copy of the flash disk on my pc. Some points of interest:

Well... What should I upload? I guess I should leave the maps and licence files (APL2\iGo\CONTENT\MAP and \APL2\iGo\LICENSE) out, but it's still a big upload. So, any suggestions?

Paul

[Edit] The APL folder is on rapidshare now:

Avar,

Thanks for taking the time, just downloaded it.

Posted Jul 10, 2009 · 18:16 UTC#35

could you please upload the complete backup of the flashdisk?

zouden we allemaal erg fijn vinden :D

btw, why use rapid share or mega upload, doesnt anybody use newsservers anymore? they are much faster

Well, I'm not going to upload my license files, and without the license files there's not much use for the maps, and without the maps there's not much use for IGO 8.3. And to be able to use the APL 3.0 you have to update your WINCE I think, check this:

Verder is het 1,56GB en dat lijkt me ook een beetje veel :?

Jammer dat je niet de hele backup wil uploaden

(About uploading the complete flash contents)

The IGO 8.3 and the maps are available elsewhere, and I don't think you can do anything with them without my licence files anyway, which I obviously am not going to upload. The WINCE Update is also available elsewhere (check the link I posted earlier).

So what are you missing?

I can see not up'ing the license but igo8.3 is a special skinned version that was written to work with the avic and the avic's (pioneer) software. Without that version of 8.3 the system will reboot itself because the sys is looking for ezrider (igo8.3) to give signals during startup and if they are not there the systems thinks something is wrong and reboots to try to correct the prob. We can not just download igo8.3 and use it in the avic, the avic requires the one that was compiled for the avic.

I think we don't need the maps but the special Avic navigationsoftware 8.3. The maps we cane find.

Posted Jul 10, 2009 · 21:40 UTC#43

without the apl2, you won't have the nice new features.

Maps and license can be found yes, but the ez-rider will need to be hacked for use with the other maps.

it would be nice though to be able to try it with some map

As you see the F-700/900 update is not the new 3.0 firmware but the 2.007000 and this is not the same i think, do you?

Posted Jul 11, 2009 · 07:35 UTC#49

Pfewww its going to be a difficult thing this way.

Is the license file really different on every machine then???

I am trying to get the update a different way. I've called my Honda dealer to get the update and he will ask his supplier to get one.

Posted Jul 11, 2009 · 09:33 UTC#50

I updated my 900bt to 3.00000 and then to 3.00500 at the Pioneer head office and can now use 910bt FW. The pioneer sales rep told me to download 3.010100 and there was no problem installing it. So there must be some kind of test that checks if the unit already has 3.0, or programed to report as 910BT.
