Perhaps it only checks the version of the flashed CE Image on the device.

Couse the Mainmenu.exe from the 910 update works on the 900 device once CE is updated.

(Check moogles find in viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25487)

is this only for european units or can the american ones work as well?

without the apl2, you won't have the nice new features.

Maps and license can be found yes, but the ez-rider will need to be hacked for use with the other maps.

it would be nice though to be able to try it with some map

So Paul can't help is at the moment?

Only by uploading the apl2 license and some of the maps i think...unless some hcaked the ezrider

It's a pity some guys on this forum has the update but doen't want to share it. I ask myself, why not?

I don't think you can use the maps without the license files, and you can't use IGo 8.3 without the maps, so what is the point of uploading them? I don't think you can even use the APL or APL2 without the WinCe update. I can upload the WINCEIMG no problem, and If anyone can prove me wrong about IGo 8.3 I can upload that too, but without the license files and maybe just one or 2 maps, the thing is about 1.5G :? Sorry, but I'd like to keep the license files for myself, I hope you can understand that!

Someone has figured out how to update the wince and the apl folder is usable. I did it from the instructions they gave and it works perfectly. Button response is as expected.

I know, that is why I uploaded the APL folder...

Update the wince is no problem at all.

Maps for iGo 8.3 is also no problem, i have the newest (2009)

The problem is the navigation software iGo 8.3 for the Avic. I have the navigation software 8.3 but it is for PDA and PNA units :(

@Paul

Why is the licence file so importent for you?

Posted Jul 11, 2009 · 22:22 UTC#57

the igo8.3 (ezrider) can be found in the f710/910 update, only thing is this doesn't work (yet) with generic license. if someone works this out, we are on the road!

Why is the licence file so importent for you?

Because it identifies me, and I don't want half of Europe driving around with my license file.

Are you willing to share your [windows/office/whatever] key on a public site?

O no problem at all Paul, it's your software and not ours. There will be another way. We had to wait

ΟΚ ... so i read all the posts and i got some questions... and i am not a newbee :P

Let's take it from the beginning and clarify the posts for the ones that are trying to do this "update",

1) We have to update the WinCE version of our F900BT (in my situation).

Question: Which are the correct winceimg files in order to update our unit in EUROPEAN version? In the other post i think we have the US version. (And i think i do understand how to do the updating of the WinCE).

2) Suppose we successfully update our WINCE version, next thing we have to do is apply the testmode and erase previous APL directory and change it with the one that Paul gave us ?? (yes i have already a backup of my system).

3) After that we have the Version 3 BUT we are still not having the 8.3 version of the maps. We have the steering controls, the menus and the caller functionality. Correct? (i don't know about the 3rd mode of the maps. Does it work also on 8.0 or we need maps with 8.3 ??)

Really thanks for your help.

Antony.

Paul,

Any chance you could copy the My Flash Disk\DATA folder for us? I would like to have the new button sounds that are included in 3.0

Thanks!

Sure, but there's not much in there so I hope you find what you are looking for:

Thanks Paul, the Sound folder was exactly what I was looking for. One step closer to full 3.0 :D

Update-

I just loaded them up....soooo much better than the old sounds!

For those in doubt that they have or need the European WINCE update, I uploaded my 3.0 image:

Paul

So according to this file ... we have to do the update of the WINCE (step1) and the sequence is what i wrote in my previous post? Thanks.

Hi Brandon,

Since I am the owner of a F900BT which already contains version 3 I can't tell you exactly what to do, but I think you are right. One comment though, if you simply rename the APL folder to something like APL.OLD there is no need to delete it, you can just copy the new APL on the flash drive then, I think there is enough space.

Yeap friend i got your point. You can either delete or rename the directory i know!!

So is ANYONE that did this procedure/update or we are talking theoreticly ?? (i am always talk regarding EUROPE units)

Is the procedure updating the WINCE with the files that Paul gave us and then testmode and update the APL folder?

Sorry but it would be great if someone confirmed this process. Thanks.

EDIT: stupid question was here before - you obviously update the contents of the zipped folder into the \Flash Disk\Data directory on the unit...

Figured it out - thanks.

Do we know if anyone on here is working on cracking ezrider? I've posted a request on another forum but haven't heard anything yet. I know there are at least 1 or 2 people on here with the skills, but don't know if they've seen these recent threads.

One step closer to full 3.0 :D Update

We only need a working iGo 8.3 with newest maps i think

I am also still waithing for it :(

Posted Jul 14, 2009 · 10:44 UTC#72

Since noone answered my question regarding the update ... i tried it by myself.

So ... The correct procedure for a european Unit is the below:

1) I updated the WINCE from the wince files that Paul uploaded and the instuctions i got here in forum (don't forget to do the update WINCE and choose the option WITHOUT format).

2) Testmode works just fine after the update. I got in the windows, i renamed the APL directory (backup purposes) and i add the APL directory that Paul gave us too.

3) Reboot and everything is working just great.

To tell you the truth i didn't see major changes, but it solved me the problem i had with the steering wheel. Now i can change my presets with a button in the left side of the wheel.

If i see anything else .. i will write it.

Posted Jul 14, 2009 · 13:07 UTC#73

@brandon7gr

did you install something special for steering wheel function?

Posted Jul 14, 2009 · 13:52 UTC#74

So... before trying to brick my F-900BT ... is button response like the famous youtube video or it's still laggy? (It's my major complain with the unit)

Thank you.

Button response is just like the video! Was my biggest complaint also.
