Performed the upgrade on my F700bt from 2.008 FW yesterday and it was great! So easy to do. Everything went smoothly. Not a single issue whatsoever. Now everything is snappier, bluetooth works great, very clear, and I now have new map! Thanks much, Retell!

i noticed my maps are from 2008 and my trip from texas to missouri my gps was freaking out because i wasnt on the roads that existed two years ago lol...

FYI, I was using StuffIt Expander 12.0.2 on my Mac.

thats probably why... that app doesnt play nice with rars.

I'd use keka for extracting rars....

I have followed all of the steps and my blue update screen seems to stop at 44% any ideas?

everything was done as intructed and now when my system boots up i get this:

AV has performed an illegal operation.

Says the program was shutdown and its stuck on the boot screen....

Fixed. I had to delete a few maps.

Fixed. I had to log into MSN Direct, and "reactivate," my device. Which in turn sends out a signal to the device. Interestingly enough, you do not have to do it immediately. I did the activation, and didnt go to my car till the next day, and the traffic services were working.

So the activation signal is not something you need to do and run to your car right after...

I have a LITTLE problem! I attempted to do the update but now the unit is stuck on the pioneer splash screen. Keeps on rebooting without going to the menu. About 4 hours I try to figure it out. Any idea anyone? Thanks.

Just tried to install the fx3.1 after updating 2.06 and 2.08. Everything was well up to the fx3.1. It went flawlessly until I tried to reboot. The unit is stuck in a loop and just stays in the splash screen. Any ideas how I could fix it ? I bought this radio for my wife's new car and I've spent the whole weekend trying to fix it. I need a fix badly!!!!

hey guys thanks for all your info... i have a f900bt and the unit started having problems last week... it kept rebooting and i could not get it fixed with all the other fixes i read in other postings.... but now i'm glad it did it 'cause i was able to put this update on it.... its great!!!

For all your people having REBOOTING problem, it has been discussed over and over in the past. Please search this topic or this forum.

The most common causes are:

1) Not enough space in the internal Flash to store all the data of the SD card after the WinCE update. The internal Flash disk has only 1.7 GB of free space. There is apparently no warning when the copy operation can't fit all files in it within TestMode. You would have to delete some maps or POI from the SD card and try again.

2) Copy files from the SD card to the wrong place in the internal Flash disk. You have to copy appropriate files from \Card Storage\My Flash Disk\*.* to \My Flash Disk\*.* of the head unit.

Absolutely! All current mods on this forum are designed to work only with Firmware 3.x.

Is it normal to be getting Corrupt file messages when I try to open the RAR file? I am using winrar. Then when I try to copy the files on to my SD card it won't allow me to because it says the files are corrupt. I have tried downloading twice now.

Im leaving on a trip this weekend and I want to install this. Thanks

Can anyone help me out.. i did the steps, made sure to do Format on the update.. but when i go to transfer contents of My Flash Drive from the SD to the unit, it keeps saying not enough space.. the folder is empty, i hit properties and it says 34 KB used, 1.75 GB free space. Thanks guys

Check you SD's size to transfer, the SD folder size is bigger than 1.75 GB. You have to delete some maps and POIs.

Just wanted to give a huge thank you to Retell for this. My unit had a fatal application error and shut down. After that every time I turned it on I got the splash screen, then it just went black.

I spent about 5 hours researching this site but was never sure exactly what to do or how to do it until I found the link to this thread. This worked perfect and I'm back up and running (with some cool mods btw). Saved me $200 bucks (I can't believe Pioneer would charge that much for something that would be so simple for them to fix). I just had to delete Canada and Hawaii maps to make it work. The only thing I notice is that on a couple of system settings screens when I hit the back button it takes me to the phone menu - no big deal, everything else is great.

Now I also have a bit of confidence to consider other mods.

But I notice that my rear view camera does not come on automatically when I shift in reverse? Does anyone else have a rear view camera installed & can confirm if theirs does or does not work?

I'm curious if my problem is software or hardware related

I installed the update and everything is running a lot quicker and smoother. I had to delete a few maps and POIs to make it fit, but it's fine. PROBLEM is, bluetooth seems jacked. I'm able to pair my phone and make calls, but the system restarts randomly while in the middle of the call.... also, the "PhoneBook Transfer" feature isn't working and just freezes up the system whenever I try it.

Should I be doing the "Bluetooth Update" on the Pioneer website after the 3.1 update?
