Okay, quick question regarding this if anyone is available to still help.  I have the x930BT unit and it worked fine (I bought it a few years ago) but I sold it to my friend just recently and installed it fine and it was working but he had to do some battery work a few weeks after and then when he went to start it all up it now asks for a password.  Which is weird because I never remember setting one, he did not either plus he had already installed it fine just a few weeks prior already!  I tried all passwords I would ever use anyways just to check and nothing.  Sooo, I come here and figured i'd try this however when I click the link form page 3 or whatever from this post, it will not finish downloading and give me an error.  I have tried several different computers now and it looks like it finishes but then gives a network error or something.  Could it be the network I'm on, should I try my laptop on a whole other network?  Is this link to the download just no good anymore (it was a few years ago now)?

any help is appreciated, I hate to be in this position where I had a like brand new unit that I sold to my friend and now he has a stereo he cant use..

As an update, I finally was able to get someone else to download the file for me and get it onto the SD card, put it in the unit and folowed instructions and it worked perfectly.  Password there was definitely not one I chose which was weird..  But anyways, just wanted to confirm it works on the x930BT model as stated.

Thank you for your confirmation.  We were really wondering if the previous 754 confirmations were real, but now, we know.

The instructions were exact and it still works in 2015. Saved me $250. Thanks for posting this

Sweet worked like a charm on newer model...first menu is called file maintenance instead of filemanager

I would just like to thank you so much, man! I bought my car off the lot w/ the 930BT already installed. I put a new battery in my car and it asked for a password that I had never received. Called Pioneer and they said I had 2 options: contact the old owner or send it in to them. With no way to contact the old owner, I was going to send it to them. I'm glad I came across this post. Your step by step really helped. Thank you, again!

Okay, let's simplify this a little more; might help some others. Pictures have always helped me out in situations like this, so let's do this.

Working with an X930BT in this how-to. Read all of these instructions all the way through before attempting it.

....

Hope that helps everyone a little more!

It helped indeed, even today.

Thanks a lot to both you and djmixman for the original post.  :-D  :)    8)  :D

I have a x9310bt and downloaded all necessary files on USB drive but when I plug the USB into the unit the file screen

does not come up so I can find the password

I don't think you can use usb for that... you have to use micro sd

Posted Aug 20, 2015 · 16:34 UTC#212

Worked exactly as described in this post. Huge thanks!!!! I have now changed my password to something I can remember. Kudos!!!

Okay, let's simplify this a little more; might help some others. Pictures have always helped me out in situations like this, so let's do this.Working with an X930BT in this how-to. Read all of these instructions all the way through before attempting it.First off, you'll need a micro SD card; size isn't extremely important, the size of the files you'll be putting on it are less than 14mb, just choose one that your unit can support if it has a size limitation. In this instance I used a 32gb the first time around, but I'll be using a 16gb in the photos below; again, it really doesn't matter as long as it's at least 14mb, and I think the smallest you can get is 2gb now anyway and they're only like $5, lol.Next, you'll need to download the files required to booth the unit into testmode. In the original post there's a link to another thread which has about 5 different download links in it, and I know that can get confusing... The one you want is the HACKMODE v1.4 BASE. Click on that link and you will download the .zip file containing the files you need. Once the download is complete, unzip the contents onto your micro SD card. The .zip file is password protected and when you go to extract the files it will prompt you for the password. The password is "avic411" (without the "" obviously...)The files should be place in the root of the card, not in another folder on the card. I'm not sure if it's required (although it probably is) but have nothing else on the card at the time. The only thing that should be on the micro SD card are the files located in the .zip that you downloaded.ss1.jpgss2.jpgAt this point, it's time to make your way to the password protected unit with the micro SD card you just place the files above into. With the unit powered off (key in the OFF possession, or just no power supplied if your doing this out of the vehicle), load the card into the device. Power the unit on and wait for it to boot, at which point it should boot into testmode.IMAG1547.jpgOnce in testmode, on an X930BT, and I would imagine it would be the same for all of the X9X0BT series, the only buttons and actions that will be needed to navigate the screens are the following:*HOME - escape/cancel/go back*MODE - enter/select*Volume down (left) - move selection on screen down*Volume up (right) - move selection on screen upI CANNOT STRESS HOW STRONGLY I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT MESS WITH ANY OTHER FILES IN HERE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! IT IS VERY EASY TO BRICK YOUR UNIT USING TEST MODE!!! I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU SCREW THINGS UP; YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!Move the selection on the screen down to #11, File Maintence IMAG1548.jpgPress MODE and you will enter the File Maintence screenIMAG1549.jpgNow select User and open it IMAG1550.jpgIMAG1551.jpgNow select System and enter it IMAG1552.jpgIMAG1553.jpgNow go to security and enter it IMAG1554.jpgIMAG1555.jpgThe only thing on the screen at this point is Password, so enter it IMAG1556.jpgIMAG1557.jpgThere is only option on this screen that you you are concerned with here, a text dump. You do not have to move the selection around, just press MODE to perform the text dump, and VIOLA, the password that the unit is locked with is displayed near the top left of the screen!(I've blurred my password out here for obvious reason)IMAG1559.jpgWrite this password down (unless is something you can remember), then just back out of all the menus using the HOME key until you get the the first screen, at which point you can power the unit off and remove the SD card. With the card removed, power the unit back up and enter your recovered password when prompted, and enjoy :)If you're not going to remember the password you just recovered, I'd suggest changing it. Take a look in the owners manual for those instructions.Hope that helps everyone a little more!by the way, I think this thread should become a sticky...

We too ran into this password problem when we replaced our battery. This worked like a charm. Thank you so much for taking the time to post such detailed instructions and screen shots. Our upcoming road trip would have been painful without our A/V.

A huge Thank you!

When I unzip the file and enter the "avic411" password, I then get another prompt to type in the "HACKMODE.KEY" password. Does anyone know what this password should be?

Pull the handbrake.  This is a protection to prevent you from using the keyboard while driving.

I Installed the hack program onto my sd card and put it into my stereo system and nothing happened. when I tried to delete the program off my sd card to try and install it again it wont delete and now it wont let me put anything else onto my sd card either because its tell me that the sd card is "write-protected". Can someone explain to me what happened and what to do?
