Same here. I have to keep mail running in background. If I close it, it won't push.

How do you keep it running in the background without closing it? The mail app always runs in the background when you press the home button.
Can you try this version of the Backgrounder.plist? I changed the backgrounding method value from 2 to 3.

Edit:
Just a note. This plist may break touch for unsupported apps. Just trying to see if it fixes the Mail push issue.
I was able to reproduce the issue on my device. Looking into a fix.
Thanks mike
Hey Folks,
First off, awesome work : )
I'm trying to get full ipod control using an avh-8400bt head unit. Basically, all I want to be able to do is plug in my 4s, switch to cover flow mode and use the stereos display to play music. It kinda works, but there is a small issue, well a large issue, in that whenever I connect, I lose all form of volume control. The physical buttons on the unit when pressed show the volume number changing, but do not actually effect the volume, and the buttons on the iphone do nothing. Also, the moment I unplug the cable, the display on the iphone changes to show the volume slider. Plug it back in, and the volume slider vanishes. I'm hoping I have just set something up wrong, as surely volume changes can be made : )
Thanks in advance

Sounds like a problem with your setup. When you plug the cable into the bottom of the phone, the music is rerouted through the cable and into the device. The volume control on the phone (buttons and on screen) only controls the volume output through the headphone jack. Since the sound is routed through the cable to the device, the buttons on the head unit are the only thing that can change the volume.
Not sure if I can help you with this. If you want, start a new thread and we can discuss there. Trying to keep this thread on topic.
Will do Mike,
Thanks
Mike thanks for eveything, a few notes from my own experience. I have resolved the mail push issue which I was experiencing by downloading backgrounder and running it alongside appradio extensions. Also the font used on the "apps" menu when using my appradio 2 is a system font and I was able to customize it using bytafont. Just thought that was an interesting feature you might be able to use
thanks again for your amazing work!!

I just posted a new beta that should fix the problem. Would you mind uninstalling Backgrounder and update to beta 7? Let me know if it works.
Seems to be working great so far. Haven't had too many emails to really test it. But as a whole the exstensions are running mich smoother. Also I notices that the appradio app uses the same loaders as ios. So if you customize the loaders on your iPhone via winterboard it will reflect these changes on your appradio. Thanks again mike for bringing increased functionality to pioneers product. I would not still own one if you didnt make this program

I have AppRadio Extensions 1.1.4-1 loaded on my iPhone. I downloaded this from the Cydia store because I decided today to get a Pioneer AppRadio. I found this site from googling ARE and saw that there is a beta version out. So as a complete noob to your applications, how do I go about getting the beta version installed on my iPhone, considering the beta is not listed for download on the Cydia store? Is there a step by step users/installation guide somewhere on this site I can download? I'd like to have all the apps loaded on my phone and ready to test by the time I get the Pioneer installed.
Thanks.
Barry
Download iFile from Cydia. Go to the first page of this thread from your phone and click the link to the beta, select "Open In iFile" and select "Installer"
Worked.
Thanks.
Hey mike
I downloaded beta 7, mail still not pushing unless the mail app is running (same as before).
Just FYI

Just to confirm that I understand the issue, push email works fine until you manually kill the process. Once it is manually killed, it doesn't start itself back up again. Is that correct?

Disrgard my last post. I know exactly what's causing the push issue. I was focusing on the new Backgrounder code but it turns out this bug has existed for a while now.

Awesome. Thanks
I'm trying to get this working and I'm having issues. I have installed the newest version and I launch appradio app on my phone and then go to the app mode on my Avic 8400. I don't get the option to use any apps outside of the normal compatible apps. Any ideas of what the issue could be? I followed the instructions on the first post.

Did you set everything up in the Settings app?
Just posted RC1. Lots of fixes in this version, still a couple more bugs though. This will probably be the first version I push to Cydia.
New version works like a charm! I tested my push email, all is good. Thanks Mike, great work addressing this issue, and outstanding work overall.
The one thing I've noticed, which may or may not be fixable, is when you switch from an app back to the appradio main menu, it has to reload as if you were just plugging the phone in. Any fix for this?
It takes forever. If not, oh well. Thanks Mike!

ah that was the problem. Thanks Mike! App is working great!. This may not be a question for your app but any streaming video app, should it be able to take up the entire screen or will it always have black bars around it? Netflix for example.
Everything was working well with beta3 on my iphone4 with appradio2. The beta7 and rc1 have slowed things down to a crawl. Even the supported apps.
