I'm gong to try this on my F30 that's been updated so is the equivalent of an F40 in all but badged name

Has anyone who's done this update previously done Pionara's mod to remove the nag screen and if so did you have to reapply the mod or does it still work?

I'm just unsure as to where the mod sits... in the OS or in the Navigation app.

If you apply the update then using testmode to get the files back off then it's easy enough. Worked on my F930. No need to reapply the update as it's already been installed.

Just follow the instructions for the mods in their relevant threads but bear in mind all the offsets are different so read the instructions carefully. The file structures are the same so should be simple enough.

Just updated the F940BT including the bluetooth update, everything is working 100% as far as i can see.

Tried some "unknown" adresses i noticed missing in the old version, they're on the map now.

Update time for the navi 25-30 minutes, bluetooth 4 minutes.

However I'm currently planning to edit the Navi.exe in the installer which should mean I don't even have to go back in and fix... one AVIC brick in the making, I hope not as I have found the offset you kindly posted and the hex looks correct so will report back how I get on.

Eeek get a message after the install has completed... wrong SD card insert correct card & continue

Well as predicted I have a brick... done a fresh download of everything and I always end up with the same error message re wrong SD card. Tried to reinstall my v4 but that won't run either now, not quite sure how to get back in to the unit but have my testmode SD card so will give that a try next. But if anyone has any ideas as to why this may have happened I'd be interested

So a note for anyone attempting what I foolishly did... Reading many of Pionara's posts I find you can't have any changed files within the updater. Part of the reason for my first failure, my subsequent failures were a result of a corrupt .rar file, this was compounded by my using a Mac with a windoze emulator to expand and create the update SD. Thankfully a fresh set of downloads and a reformatted SD have resulted in a successful map update. Now just the nag mod to apply tomorrow...

anyone know if the version 5 have improved reading files through usb? because I think it is or was very limited.

What was wrong with USB? I never seemed to have any issues to be honest.

what happens is that it reads all formats are limited. I think that is so very wrong. Chinese equipment read everything, so a great brand like pioneer should read all formats without restrictions

Agreed. The F950DAB is worse. The amount of videos that the 930 read that the 950 doesn't is quite shocking. Biggest problem I think is the deal they've done with DivX probably means they're not allowed to support more than they do.

If you update to EU 2013 and your language isn't one of the five or six provided with this update, you'll loose your TTS files.

As for the precedent update, I can provide several lost TTS files for free for those who hadn't done a backup :

CZC, DAD, DUB, ENG, FIF, FRF, GRG, HUH, NON, PLP, PTP, SPE, SWS and TRT.

Just send me a PM...

EDIT : Now, there is DUN too... thanks to petergun! If you can send me the few missing ones (german, italian and romanian) it would be perfect and helpfull for the community.

Which are the languages provided in this version?

the update comes with CZC, ENG, FIF, GRG, HUH, PLP and TRT.

So if your language is DAD, DUB, DUN, FRF, GED, ITI, NON, PTP, ROR, SPE or SWS you must back up your TTS files before updating...

you'll find them in NDATA/TTSData/

I can provide all of them except GED, ITI and ROR (always looking for them if you have them!)

Im not sure how to get the Swedish TTs files from my F9310BT, but is it possible to get them from you and put  them in the installation folder before the installation?

If i look into the update/NDATA folder, there is no TTSData folder. Only 106 ndata files..

Or what is the best way?

you won't find them in the update!

you must get them from your avic with supertestmod (or just ask me for them...)

the swedish TTS files must be added after updating your avic by creating the following folder structure on a SD card :

VOICE\TTSData_SWS\

and copy the TTS files in the TTSData_SWS folder on the SD card, then insert the SD in your avic and install SWS with menus from regionals parameters.

you mustn't change anything in the installation files or the update won't work.

you can't copy manually TTS files directly in the AVIC with supertestmod or it won't work.

just send me a MP and I'll give you everything you need to do it yourself (TTS files, video tutorial...)

Successfully updated AVIC F940BT (no hack/mod) from 4.01 to 5, also bluetooth from 3.24 to 3.32.

I now have addresses that were missing before.

Next I'll try the "warning nag" fix when changing to the navigation screen.
