just make sure that its bein grounded. whether you your T-splices, electrical tape, whatever. little things like how to ground it are irrelevant, just make sure its grounded out

but personally i use 2 T splices and splice the mute wire to the parking break --> parking break to harness ground.

The mute wire had a gold clip at the end, do I need to keep it attached for any purpose?

You know, I've been working on this bypass for a couple days. I'm quite seasoned in electronics and installs, and have checked all connections three times over. Everything is done as discussed here, but I STILL get that damn park brake message and I can't watch movies in motion. I belive my Avic is a Feb. 2008 model...did they beat the hack in the newer models, or what??

Posted Jun 30, 2008 · 22:45 UTC#332

Nope. There is no change, they didn't change anything and you don't have a special unit or anything. If you do all 3 steps properly, it WILL work. Make sure that you didn't mess up the pin on the mute wire while removing and re-inserting it from the harness, and that it's seated in the harness firmly and in the proper pin position. And make sure your grounds are good and solid.

My unit was manufactured in february and I just did the bypass on it with no issues. Well, I had one issue but It was because the pin that goes in the harness for the mute wire wouldnt stay, so I soldered it in.

ok quick question on the bypass thats been beat to death, the harness that has the mute wire is not installed in my car to the back of the unit, if i ground the park break wire or simpley attach it to the other side of the park break would it still work, i have an 02 elantra. also who know who to set the time zone.

Posted Aug 12, 2008 · 23:45 UTC#335

No, you need that AV harness on there to do the bypass, as shown in the pictures/instructions.

Posted Aug 12, 2008 · 23:59 UTC#336

what about setting the time zone, and also what does that wire go to.

I succesfully hacked my d3 thanks to this forum . However , grounding the mute switch causes my Onstar when initiated to shut my system off. I have the gmos box hooked up and my radio mute cable comes from that and is grounded. Has anyone fixed this? or is this an incorrect way of doing the hack?

Posted Aug 15, 2008 · 16:48 UTC#338

You moved mute wire should be tired in with your black ground wire on the harness. If you did it correctly, there is no way your onstar should be messing up.

Posted Aug 15, 2008 · 18:30 UTC#339

When I move the mute (that is connected to ground)wire do I disconnect it from the other side of the harness that connects to the gmos?

Posted Aug 15, 2008 · 18:41 UTC#340

Looks like your mute wire is being used by your gmos to mute the D3. You probably need to move the mute wire back to orig. position like it was.

Then move a different (unconnected) wire to the bypass hole. Most setups don't use the mute wire and that is the easiest one to use.

My Bypass works great,Thanks to everyone. If I hook up the pink wire up will the bypass still work?

Posted Aug 27, 2008 · 12:34 UTC#342

Yes it will.

Hey Guys.

I have been reading the posts on here for a few days. I just got a D3 and had the guys at best buy install it. I ask them to do the bypass and they said "They might" so I assumed that meant they would.

After the install I think they have done something wrong. When the car is in park none of the features work... as if the car is moving. When I push in the parking brake, all the features become available. This seems totally wrong to me. It would not bother me that much but when I start rolling the car door bell rings so much because the parking break is engaged. This totally defeats the purpose of the bypass Does anyone know what they did wrong? And how to fix it?

I think what they did is way wrong because I can’t even watch a DVD without the parking break engaged even if I’m stopped and in park???

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

my bypass only works for maybe 2 hours then the brake error message comes across the screen, is it my radio? i need help bad

Posted Nov 09, 2008 · 22:25 UTC#349

I don't know if it's been said here yet, so I'll give my advice anyway.

If you buy your D3 used, you may have to reset it to the factory setting to make this work. I tried it several times, and still got the "brake wrong" message, until I reset the unit. Also you really have to make sure the mute wire is all the way in the wiring harness. A super small screwdriver (as mentioned here) works great.

Make sure parking brake wire is securely grounded...this pioneer avic d3 bypass worked great for me :)
