Thank you everyone for all your help!!!

NEED HELP ONE LAST TIME!!!

After I converted from z1 to z2 i can still use the XM NAV Traffic but it only shows traffic reports on all freeways for about 20 min. and then it goes away. This happen to me everywhere i go.

PS

The XM Radio works fine and i have strong signal pretty much everywhere but the NAV Traffic only works for about 20 min.

ANYONE???

I have also noticed my xm nav traffic icon vanish from time to time after the Z1 to Z2 upgrade. I Don't know why. Never happened on the Z1 software.

Alright, from what i've read in other posts. Doing a reset (using a paper clip or whatever) using the reset hole next to eject will fix it. Or atleast it did for others. Good Luck and report back if it did or did not help you!

I installed a toshiba 60 gig drive a few weeks ago, I just pulled the old drive out and put it away. It's been working ok so far, I had to do a reset to get the navtraffic to work properly and it is still having some issues. Today on the drive to work I recorded some burned discs to the HD, worked ok but on the way home I did notice the navtraffic was acting up then suddenly it did a reboot, first time since the install. After rebooting the navtraffic was back, no other problems noticed so far.

Is it recommended to perform a level 4 reset after changing out the HD from a Z1 to a Z2? I was surprised to notice that the audio settings among others remained during the switch.

I guess these are in the Flash ROM or RAM and not stored in any way on the HD.

This is why I am considering a solid, good reset.

Any ideas?

Thanks Magnum...

Worked like a charm (though I'm an IT/PC specialist, so this stuff is childs play for me).

Now I need to yank my console apart to change from the DucatiBoy flasher mod, to the 2 wire mod.

Also applied the firmware update for the freeze-on-boot issue (which started right after my Z1 went out of warranty).

If anyone is in SoFla (fort lauderdale) area and needs this done, I have the facilities to take care of it for you...

Ok, so I downloaded the files from BigFloppy's FTP (thanks for sharing!) and have had no luck un-raring them. I receive the following errors:

! D:\Z2\Z2Bypassed.part02.rar: Packed data CRC failed in Z2Bypassed.tib. The volume is corrupt

! D:\Z2\Z2Bypassed.part03.rar: Packed data CRC failed in Z2Bypassed.tib. The volume is corrupt

! D:\Z2\Z2Bypassed.part05.rar: Packed data CRC failed in Z2Bypassed.tib. The volume is corrupt

! D:\Z2\Z2Bypassed.part08.rar: Packed data CRC failed in Z2Bypassed.tib. The volume is corrupt

! D:\Z2\Z2Bypassed.part09.rar: CRC failed in Z2Bypassed.tib. The file is corrupt

I've downloaded twice and still have the same issue, what gives?

Thanks!

which version of win rar do you have? The latest? Might be time for an update. I have seen this when newer versions of win rar compress a file and an older version uncompresses it. Just a thought. Knowing Big Floppy, he is probably using the latest version.

I'm using ver 3.71, to which I just upgraded. Still confused as to what is going on.

I give up. I'm quite computer savvy, however, I'm at winds end. No matter what I do: I've downloaded the files multiple times, upgraded winRAR, etc. I always get the same error messages when un-raring the files from BigFloppy's FTP. Is it possible that the files on the FTP server are in fact corrupt?

Please help :(

I notice the rar files are named "Z2Bypassed". Does this mean the image has the "2 wire" patch in the iso image? Also can I ground the 2 wires on a Z1 to bypass the security so I can control the dvd while I am driving?

Reason why I ask is I would like to have the Avic-z1 installed with the physical 2 wire ground installed. Test the unit. Then replace the HD with a Toshiba 60 gig drive imaged with Z2.

This way I will not have to uninstall the the unit to apply the physical 2 wire patch(ground).

yes you can do that

Not to get off topic, but i looked at the upgrade CD and everything is in .DAT files which i can't extract to debug. I was hoping to break it down and find the algorythm but no luck. If anyone can get the info out of the .DATs i'd be happy to take a look and see what i can pull out as far as the algo goes.

Is anyone in the process of working with the UPDATE DVD to remove the files that require the Media code, serial, etc?

how do i save music and settings from my z1 HD if im putting a new toshiba 40gb HD in?

Posted Oct 04, 2007 · 23:41 UTC#116

There is no way to save your original music and settings unless you unlock or orignal drive and copy the music and settings to the new drive.

All you need is the .01 thru .09 .rar files. Disregard the 700.iso and other files from the FTP site. Those are something else BigFloppy is hosting.

Getting ready to process your Z1-Z2 upgrade step by step instructions but have a question about the TIB file size. I've uncompressed the 9 files 4 times already to make sure but my file size does not equal the 9.4GB you mention in your writeup.

In File Explorer w/ Details as my view choice the following is shown:

Z2Bypassed.tib 9.278,202 KB TIB File 7/31/2007 9:30PM

When I right mouse click properties on the uncompressed Z2Bypassed.tib file I show:

Size: 8.84 GB (9,500,878,848 bytes)

Size on Disk: 8.84 GB (9,500,880,896 bytes)

WinRAR shows (for any of the 9 files selected):

Z2Bypassed.part01.rar - RAR volume (number 1), unpacked size 9,500,878,848 bytes

BTW the first 8 files are noted to be 1,048,576,000 in size while the final 9th file is 686,857,644 in size. I believe these are correct from reading the various postings of these uploaded files.

Am I missing something? Never got any error messages or issues and all 4 times uncompressed the same. Not sure if I should proceed until hearing from you on this dilemma.

Finally, thank you for taking the time to write up these instructions and to all that created and uploaded the bypass files. You guys are great and very much appreciated.

I got the same problem, After unrar 01-09 Rar file. Finally i got Z2bypassed.tid.. the size is 8.84. Any input would be appreciate.

Thanks

alvarezlouie was able to do the update with no problems. I would suggest the same thing he did and do a test on your archive files. Looks like this system reported the same file size as yours for the .tib but it still updated correctly.

Thanks I did as you suggested. In WinRAR there is a "Test archive files" under the Command menu. All tested 100% perfect, so I can safely assume that the master Z2BypassFile is good to go :)

Once again, thank you much!

I am going to test all the files. Thank you for you help AFMagnum

I just have one small comment for all those of you having issues with downloading from the FTP site.

When downloading please use an FTP program so you can RESUME the download when disconnected.

If you are using Internet Explorer and get disconnected it will not resume the Download and it will write the short file to your drive thinking that it is complete. When you try to unzip it it will give you errors saying the file is corrupt because it is truncated.

FTP Clients are avaliable for free all over the place.

I use Flash FXP and when the download gets disconnected it will ask me if i want to overwrite replace or resume the file download. this is essential for FTP service because you get disconnected all the time.

I am still currently trying to download the files i will probably have them all by this weekend, and i will repost weather it is successful or not. i will be doing 2 Z1's.

Good luck to you all and I really appreciate all the help you all have given me in the past. Thsi board is an excellent resource.

Forgive my ignorance, but is it possible to take a blank hard drive and perform this upgrade?

Though I am downloading the rar files, is there an ISO I can use for a blank hard drive? Further, does the upgrade partition the drive or do I need to do that manually?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
