1. Not !! It doesn't bypass anything. The owner still has to do mods to the unit before it is bypassed. When you do the mods, it is you who becomes liable. Porsche is not responsible for you killing someone while driving 150 miles/hour just because they made it possible.
2. Password unlocking at Pioneer Europe: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/suppo ... tware.html Does this work on the US of A disk
3. Theoretically you can BUT in reality the voice recognition is a joke. Getting the bitch to understand is like winning the lottery. Just to make sure it's not my speech that she's having problems with I've had various others give instructions to the Z1 and the result is always the same: You say: "Main street" and she repeats: "Lincoln ave". When we get bored on a trip we play games with her to see just what she might come up with.
4. Ok so there is some smart ass kid who posts more than a 100 times a month (obviously no social live), some of which are too hilarious to be taken serious, and then there is a guy who's been a member for 7 months BUT only posts when he has something of interest to say or ask. I'll give it to the guy that makes sense!! Making unneccessary U-turns, and turns while driving extra distance can only make sense to the kid that posts this garbage while calling others morons. This is one of many threads where Pioneer Navi owners are complaining about the flawed routing/directions and there is n
5. Are you saying that in your justification a U-turn is safer than a left turn?? Hmmmm. Just for the record, left turn instructions are given without consideration for alternatives. When directions are screwed up then it can just as easily be a right turn that is substituted with 3 or 4 left turns to get to a destination that was almost reached. I know of one destination in the city where the bitch tells me to drive straight past my destination on the right and then orders me to make three left tuns to get back to it. I can go there as often as I like and can reset the destination, the r
6. It's not a Toronto problem, I've had the same thing happening when I drove to Wellesley (Boston). Others have complaint about it as well. That 53 km detour is the worst I've seen though. I'm still trying to find out if this has improved in the Z2. If you have one just move your cursor to that same spot 142 km N, Nw of Toronto and make it your destination. Then zoom in on the destination and see if she still gives you that same idiotic detour instead of turning left towards GO HOME (Potter's Landing).
7. The thing that's funny is that the maps are totally accurate. It's the direction that are screwed up. I've had it in downtown areas such as Toronto that it accurately displayed the destination but in the given directions Mrs. Navi tells me to take a trip around the block before I get there. I swear the bitch has a mean-streak in her.
8. Navigation in the Z1 is totally unreliable in my neck of the woods. Here is an example of just how bad it can get: The checkered flag was registered on a previous visit to that location. I've since been back there a couple of times and still, when I input my destination to that checkered flag the Z1 tells me to go past my left turn towards 'GO Home' and make a 53 Km detour over MACTIER and BALA. Is the Z2 any better when it comes to navigation? And what about the voice commands? The first time I tried voice command in the Z1 I was thrilled that it came up with a route to
9. Wouldn't all this be redundant IF the voice command actually worked the way it's advertised?? Speaking into a mike to get directions is no different then talking to your wife, in the seat next to you, about directions. In fact it's less distracting since there is no arguing with Mrs. Nav about it. So PIONEER, how about making the voice command thingy work the way it's supposed to????? Surely there's no legal concerns about speaking in a car? Not even in the US - yet? ........I'm assuming that voice command is still no better in the Z2 than in the Z1.
10. If you put it under the dash make sure there is no metal between the antenna and the sats. Dark window makes no difference as long as it isn't metalized or foil. Most cars have a metal frame under the dash - stick it on top of that with it's magnet. Works great.
11. Grace note can do a lot more than what vers. 06010030 does. It only updated one out of 7 untitled CDs that I have on the Hdd. When copying a CD with Roxio Creator Classic, gracenote in Roxio, has titles for the other 6. Why would Pioneer not provide the same Gracenote data base that Roxio uses???
12. Man, does this ever sound interesting. I'd be on board real quick if I could hope to be successful without having any programming experience. Does anyone know what Pioneer charges for a programmed replacement HDD in case things go south? Has anyone been successful formatting the HDD and then putting previously save content back on it?
13. Thanks, thought maybe I missed something. This maybe a stupid question but has anyone thought of perhaps adding a small program to play mp3's?
14.
It's too bad it's not unlocking for 1/2 off or something, but I'll take whatever I can get. Thanks for the effort!
I had hoped for more off as well and had pointed out how little we can do once unlocked. Still, I appreciate that Daniel responded with a postive reply. Too bad he didn't at least break that $40 barrier. :)
15. I've been away for a while. Is it now possible to get MP3's onto the hdd by any other means? Importing?
16. Jason has already made it a sticky. We now have a members discount for getting the Hdd unlocked. License for 1 recovery Special discounted license for AVIC411 community $42.37 http://www.hdd-tools.com/products/rrs/licenses/rs-avic411.html License for 1 recovery
17. Good news, I've been in touch with Daniel at A-FF Data Recovery and he has offered a special discount to members of avic411.com. http://www.hdd-tools.com/products/rrs/licenses/rs-avic411.html Here a quote from Daniel: Please let me know if there is any trouble with this page. Thanks, Sincerely, Daniel Clay A-FF Data Recovery Support affsupport@hdd-tools.com UPDATE: Since this was posted originally, things have changed and we can now buy a Toshiba laptop hdd for little more than what it costs to unlock. Installing the Z2 image to a new drive leaves the old drive intact i
18.
bump, i'm having teh same problem is there no fix for this? only return it to pioneer? my bacxk up camera worked when i tested it out, so i ran teh wires and then tried it out and it won't work! I attached it to a vid input, and it didn't work either so i assumed it was the camera, however, when i tried putting a video source to the back up camera input, it didn't work either sooo, i'm thinking its a problem with the Z1... everything else works fine EXCEPT this reverse cam function! help!
Sounds identical to my problem and if Pioneer repla
19. I took the Z-1 to Pioneer in Toronto and after 3 weeks they gave me a new one. Apparently they couldn't get the part that was needed to fix the camera problem. So it turns out that the problem was NOT the camera but the Z1. The picture that I now get is very good.
20.
Strange that he does not want to replace it? You should have warned us about the annoying ActiveX pop up on that site. It goes off even when you try to click it away and you can't get rid of the noise until you get out of OE. I'm hoping that some one will recommend another camera here that is not to expensive and not to big.
Sorry, I don't know why he has that damn Active X. He finally did agree to ship me a replacement and hopefully this one is going to be ok.
21. The ebay seller confirms that the camera is defective based on the description of the problem. He wants to give me back my money but doesn't want to replace the camera. Hmmmmmmm. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130037943811&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSII_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=130031234913&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=ItemToItem&usedrule2=StoreCatToStoreCat&usedrule3=CategoryProximity&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget 'Wonder if that means that all of his cameras are defective and if that's the case then why does he keep selling more. 22. Sure, as long as you don't want to watch the rear view camera while moving forward.
Good point! I hooked it up to the ignition ON instead. Thanks. :D
23. Installed an aftermarket camera from ebay into the license plate. It appeared to be working fine the first day except that I had to make frequent changes to Brightness and Contrast. Then I discovered that the LEDs don't light up at night. The next morning the reverse view screen went completely dark (except for the map portion) while driving for about a half hour with only undistinguishable ghosting moving around. After setting brightness and contrast to max I was able to see a faint black and white picture with occasional bright color flashes. I assume that this is a camera prob
24. Just got myself an aftermarket camera. Is it sufficient to hook up the 12V feed to the back-up lights where it only gets power when backing up? :)
25.
A business authorized to sell Pioneer televisions is not necessarily authorized to sell Pioneer car stereos or home audio. So, no, you can't say because they are good for any one Pioneer thing, that they are cleared for any and every Pioneer thing.
Pioneer can't expect you to do a lot of research as to wether a Pioneer dealer is authorized to sell a certain product, and I'm sure that they don't. If he's a Pioneer dealer then you don't have to worry about Pioneer warranty. Their sign says: Must be purchased from an authorized PIONEER dealer. (Not authorized
