1. I live in Las Vegas and have the AVIC-Z1 upgraded to the Z2 installed in my Hummer H3. Had a few problems but not due to the unit itself. I've had is the defective Sirius module I picked up on eBay (buyer beware!), and a local installation facility sold me the WRONG faceplate, which I finally got around to ordering today. I have the bluetooth module installed but not longer use it as noted throughout this forum it just cuts off for absolutely no reason at odd time during a conversation. Outside of that the unit is simply AWESOME! Huge screen, great directions, have used it through Sout
2. Thanks I did as you suggested. In WinRAR there is a "Test archive files" under the Command menu. All tested 100% perfect, so I can safely assume that the master Z2BypassFile is good to go Once again, thank you much!
3. If I process this successfully I might consider the HDD prepared in advance sell. I'll wait to hear about my postings first, give it a try and post the results for the interested parties on AVIC411.com
4. Getting ready to process your Z1-Z2 upgrade step by step instructions but have a question about the TIB file size. I've uncompressed the 9 files 4 times already to make sure but my file size does not equal the 9.4GB you mention in your writeup. In File Explorer w/ Details as my view choice the following is shown: Z2Bypassed.tib 9.278,202 KB TIB File 7/31/2007 9:30PM When I right mouse click properties on the uncompressed Z2Bypassed.tib file I show: Size: 8.84 GB (9,500,878,848 bytes) Size on Disk: 8.84 GB (9,500,880,896 bytes) WinRAR show
5. Damn, should have checked WalMart, posted on the AVIC board first and of course I am not opposed to the ghetto version of the antenna connector. Lesson learned, to all, before buying anything, trying anything post on the board first!
6. You can add the hp iPAQ 6900 series. Mine connects properly and works great. Don't know about the transfer of contacts as I don't want to even try, being that I have over 2000 entries I've only recreated the important ones I call regularly which is only about a dozen. But it connects everytime I start my 07 Hummer H3 and I can easily receive and place calls.
7. Anyone with a GM, in my case 07 Hummer H3, be aware that the GM AM/FM antenna is much smaller than the antenna plug on the AVIC-Z1 (probably all AVIC's). You'll have to get an adapter to utilize the antenna. I went to a nearby Radio Shack but they don't carry anything automotive parts anymore so headed to Circuit City and picked one up for the overpriced amount of $18. Just a heads up so you'll have everything needed to complete the install in one session.
8. Although the install went extremely well and easy with the $50 harness the only issue I really had was using the correct double din install kit. The local installation shop I bought mine from sold me the wrong one so the AVIC pushes the H3 panel forward. Anyone know of a kit, where to get that will get the AVIC flush with the panel, so I can get rid of the crap the shop sold me?
9. Using the Metra AAxxess GMOS-04 GM Onstar Digital Interface w/amp for only $40 + $8 shipping from eBay installation of your AVIC into an '06 or '07 Hummer H3 will be a simple process. Anyway turns out this harness has the VSS, reverse, parking brake and mute right on the harness, talk about easy installation. This was a NO-BRAINER! So download the manual to can see all the vehicles this is applicable to and make your AVIC a simply no-brainer, quick, simply slam dunk operation. You can download it here: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manual ... MOS04N.PDF
10. Well after much discussion with Crutchfield determined that the GMOS-02 is the correct wiring harness for my truck w/ M/FM Stereo w/6-disc CD Player & Autotone, 7-Speaker Monsoon System w/Amplifier & Rear Woofer Speakers. Also setup with OnStar and XM Radio. Turns out this harness has been replaced with GMOS-04 which has the VSS, reverse, parking brake and mute right on the harness, talk about easy installation. This was a NO-BRAINER! I ended up purchasing on eBay the Metra AAxxess GMOS-04 GM Onstar Digital Interface w/amp for only $40 + $8 shipping. Locally here in Vegas aud
11. Look all over the AVIC411 forum and cannot locate wiring information anywhere. About to install my AVIC-Z1 into my new 07 Hummer H3. Replacing the stock AM/FM Stereo w/6-disc CD Player & Autotone, 7-Speaker Monsoon System w/Amplifier & Rear Woofer Speakers. Also setup with OnStar and XM Radio. I assume no Bose as it isn't listed anywhere but the Monsoon is. Did find the following but don't know if accurate for the 07 H3, can you confirm or inform? Thanks so much for the help, without you I couldn't do this install. Thanks again. 2006 Hummer H3 (need for 07) Rev
12. The Periperal interface recieved GMH24 turned out didnt have a bridge across power leads. Once they sent me the correct one (with the jumper) no mod to the GM side of the connector was needed. Thanks for the tips! I also have a Hummer H3 '07 and am going to install my AVIC-Z1 this weekend (from my readings the wiring is same as your AVIC-D2), confused with the harnesses out there for our SUVs. What is the model number of the "Peripherial interface" you had sent that corrected the incorrect GMH24 and where did you obtain it, also what price should I expect to pay? Was your installation
13. I am preparing to install my AVIC-Z1 into my 2007 Hummer H3 and like the first posting am leery about the interface cable to connect this correctly. The H3 currently has the AM/FM Stereo w/6-disc CD Player & Autotone, 7-Speaker Monsoon System w/Amplifier & Rear Woofer Speakers. Also setup with OnStar and XM Radio. I assume no Bose as it isn't listed anywhere but the Monsoon is. I've got the AVIC-Z1, BT adapter, XM w/ NAVTraffic, Steering wheel remote, iPod adapter, Rear view camera and finally the Double Din car kit. I've installed stereos, speakers, amps, and eq's in the past so I
