  1. you can usually use update in settings to update to update to 4.4.2, I'm not sure what was stock on mine as I installed a new rom when I received it
  2. I'll test this out on my way home from work this evening
  3. Thats' exactly what I am doing, any of the MK809iii model sticks will do, some of them have better wifi/bluetooth chips and can run alternative firmwares/roms, I think the one I have is the undesirable one as its the least supported one. You can power the MK809 from the usb on the ipod cable on the AR2/3, the HDMI plugs straight into the radio with a standard hdmi cable the only thing you might need which is not included is one of these, they are about $2-$5 on amazon
  4. 90seconds until its ready and streaming a sing through spotify
  5. The pi is too slow and nothing written at present for it
  6. http://www.amazon.ca/MOGOI-MK809III-Quad-core-Rockchip-Accessory/dp/B00N9U50FI/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1421829556&sr=8-11&keywords=mk809 Yep, you've to root the device, takes about 5 minutes using an application called kingo. The app is installed through the play store though. I used the USB that was on the radio cable for the iPod but you could power it straight off the Cig Lighter too. I do intend to install a small little USB battery pack behind the centre console which charges while the car is on, so it only needs to boot up when this battery dies. I drive the car every da
  7. Unchained on Android works far better then extensions or even pioneers software. everything is much more smooth and responsive
  8. I bought the MK809iii hdmi stick on Amazon for €35 inc postage. The most difficult part is rooting the HDMI stick but I then found a program called Kingo which can pretty much root anything and it's simple to use. You just download the apps from the google play store. 95% of the apps I'd be using while driving are free anyway. I do intend on installing the pay version of unchained as it includes gps injection so all apps can use the built in antenna for gps
  9. Since extensions has been abandoned I'd considered two things. 1. Buy an android phone and use AppRadio Unchained, I actually did this and bought a HTC One M8 but I didn't like the Android system as a phone and decided to sell it and bought a iPhone 5S. 2. Upgrade my AppRadio 2 to an AppRadio 4, but with mixed reports on the unit/carplay, and the cost envolved. I decided to try something else before I abandoned my AR2. I bought a cheap Quad core android HDMI stick for €35 from Amazon. Installed the free version of AppRadio Unchained and paired it with the radio. It gets it's internet
  10. While you are at it you may as well root your S4 and install App Radio Unchained
  11. You need to use a MHL to HDMI adapter plugged into a HDMI cable. Then go into connection settings and select others
  12. Are you plugging an iPhone in? Is so which model? The iPod function/icon only works with an iPod, under connection settings, it needs to be set to analogue. It needs to use the pioneer cable also. If you are using an iPhone 5,5s,6 the connection settings need to be changed to digital and the iPhone must be plugged into the firmware port using a lightning to firmware cable. It will not work with any other cables. While using this mode the iPod function will be greyed out and unusable. Regarding the bypass what part of the world are you in?
  13. Seen that alright, new Kenwood radio too the interface looks very old styled. Will update on my plan for the AR2 once I know it all works, still waiting on a couple bits to arrive
  14. I think I'd wait a generation before buying a parrot, I had an aweful car radio from them before, I can't remember the exact bugs as it was about 2 years ago but there were loads of them, it was like no one tested it, or the designers never used a car radio before. That said this new one is using Android so may be better, isn't that strange an Android radio using carplay, wonder if there will be any apps available to add carplay to all android radios I have a plan for my AR2 before I splash out on anything else just yet, I'll create a new thread when everything arrives
  15. Funny how EC Touch have a working keyboard and pioneer cant get one
  16. No Visible fixed in this release 1 cable USB connectivity not working on AR2, still no keyboard either.
  17. You can buy this cable alot cheaper on Amazon I'll check what firmware I'm on later but I can use my ipod no issues with my AR2
  18. I think there would be more chance of someone building an extensions/AR Unchained like cydia application to enable mirroring/touch input then the new carplay cydia hack which is in development could be used
  19. While that looks interesting, it's really of no use to us Pioneer AppRadio users as we would need mirror and touch input, so unless someone creates an app with full touch input and mirroring we are still in the same boat as before. ie. extensions
