  1. I wanted to respond to this as I recently learned something. Someone posted that starting music playing through your phone PRIOR to connecting to the radio resolved their problem. It has also worked for me, for the last few days I can get Siri to consistently work using this method. I did have one time where it wouldn't work but I was also using Waze in the background for directions. Restarting everything with just music and Siri was back on again. Hope this helps.
  2. Unfortunately a number of people, myself included, have experienced this kind of problem but with different models (I have a 4000). There have been a number of suggestions to fix the issue but they don't work for everyone. I would absolutely suggest you make sure you are running on the correct firmware. I've had a couple of successes trying other iphones which seems to get things back on track but again this is short lived. Sorry, wish I had a better answer for you.
  3. Just to keep things going, today it worked for this morning but now I have an even weirder problem. Now I can use Siri, the phone, text messaging, maps, etc. but I cannot use music. Everytime I try to start the music icon it flashes momentarily and then goes back. Oddly enough even physically disconnected but still connected under BT the phone does the same thing. Not sure which is worse - no music or no phone but no phone definitely feels worse.
  4. Just to add, using a 5C did not work either. However redoing the 1.08 firmware has made it work again. Who knows for how long. Both phones are running IOS 8.3, wondering if there is a way to go back to 8.1 or 8.2 as there appears to be a compatibility problem.
  5. Sorry to report but my setup only worked for 1 day, actually a total of 3 times. This evening same problem as before - no microphone and no Siri. Honestly what good is carplay if I cannot use the phone?
  6. Just wanted to post my recent experience. 4000NEX and 5S. I got the 4000 before the carplay firmware update. Installed 1.06 and it worked - was very happy. Everything had been working fine till about a week or so ago. Then no more Siri - no phone, no text, no voice directions, etc. Although music still played. I have the steering wheel control box and 've had a couple of occasions where this some of it has stopped working - restarting the phone always solved problem. Restarting my phone didn't change a thing. I tried installing 1.06 again but did not help. Then I came here today and f
  7. The name of the download is AVH-4000NEX_FW-Update_v1.06.zip but the unzipped folder is AVIC5000NEX and that is what I put on my SD card for my 4000NEX. No renaming and it worked fine. As for failed firmware updates, my experience is that if the first recovery fails then you need to have the EPROM flashed by the manufacturer. Does the radio start up okay without the SD/USB plugged in? That would be different. Regardless I hope I am wrong in your case.
  8. From my perspective its not all that valuable to me that Pioneer (if it is Pioneer) works with older releases of IOS. From time to time I will be upgrading my phone. Perhaps I've been lucky but I haven't experienced many (if any) compatibility issues with the IOS upgrades. You could make an argument that Pioneer only commits to the versions of IOS that they state in their guide book but my experience is that even with those versions I have constant cases of AppRadio failures. I'm hoping (possibly falsely) that Apple eliminates the issues by relegating Pioneer to nothing more than touch scr
  9. My 5s works about the same with my 4000NEX as it did with IOS7. That is to say it works sometimes and doesn't work other times. In both cases I find I have to go to the Smartphone settings and switch to and back from Bluetooth Audio to Smartphone.at times to get things to sync properly.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I thought may be the mute button would work but that does not have any affect. The reason I want this feature is that I frequently call into multiple people meetings and I have to use the meeting phone system to mute my phone. It just seems strange to me that the iPhone clearly has a Mute button and the 4000 NEX does not. But clearly it does not so I'm just fortunate that the phone system we use supports muting.
  11. I wish it would work consistently. It seems like every time I connect it is a roll of the dice. The only consistent way to get Apps working is to reset the Smartphone setting to BT and then back to AV. Then I get the ignore/warning/okay set between my 5S and the 4000NEX. Other times it just works.
  12. Posted a bit too soon. I figured out how to customize - simply hold down the icon for more than a few seconds and they start shaking, then you can move them with your finger. Also checked out the mute button but this does NOT mute the microphone when making a call. Strange there is no mute button.
  13. I would like to eliminate some of the appradio icons (photo, calendar, etc.) but I don't see any way to do so. I tried a search but it didn't come up with anything. The manual for appradio also does not talk about customizing it so I'm guessing it is not supported. Second question, why does the bluetooth phone support not include a mute button (nex4000)? I have to keep my iphone unlocked so that I can mute it. Seems pretty obvious to have a mute button.
  14. This may be a stupid question but I could not find anything in the manual. When using the phone thru the radio the only controls are volume and hang up. It seems to me that mute should have been another choice - my iphone has a button for it. Is this an incredible oversight or is the button hidden somewhere? Thanks.
  15. I don't know if this will help anyone but I found that if I do the following I can get the appradio to startup properly. This is of course after I have already paired the phone thru bluetooth, physically connected the phone to the (In my case) lightning connector, clicked OK on the warning dialog box, and I am stuck in the "Connecting...." dialog box with HDMI button. If you don't get the OK button you need to disconnect the phone and restart 1) use the Mode button to access the button (Upper right hand corner) for the radio settings 2) Under Input/Output access the smartphone settings and
