Both have the same screen resolution! Is your volume located on the touch screen? How is a remote adding buttons? They are both great, its the audio I was most interested in, Not the screen really. I think the 4k in the best non nav av head unit out not.

Removable face, remote, nav if you want it so everything but the capacitive screen and if the nav stops working its $300 replacement not $1200

Ill admit im not overly impressed with the aeq on the 4K nex but on my Elite home receiver it works great. I had my DEH-M8200 in my my dash for 16 years and I think I hit the loudness once by mistake and sounded terribly boomy. I also had a 15 band pioneer eq that did the fine adjustments. Now I have the auto eq and a 13 band on top of that.

If its some thing you really need just program one of the eq memories, loudness is just an eq change.

I dont see where it states there is an optional remote? Wired remote input is not the same thing. So glad I got the 4000 I can always add nav if I want and came with the remote and removable full front face. Also watched a video the 8000 and boot time and source selection times look identical maybe faster with the 4k

Most likely you will never have a problem with it. I just removed a pioneer with a remote and cd changer installed in 1996 and except for the cd changer having an error which just happened its worked great. I changed the batteries in the remote one time in that period.

Im not going to pic out the crud here and there, I may have used the wrong terms "high end" and "nearly flat" but I dont think they warrented the negativity here. MY OPINION is that the $ 700-1000 price range is a mid range reciever and pioneer makes some of the best in that range, also for car audio no one right now can touch the 4000 nex from any other company again my OPINION.
