  1. Hi, in the manual it says that if you menu button on the map screen that on the bottom the second icon is the Mute button. For the life of me I've been trying to figure out how to get that to show up but on my unit it just isn't there. Does anyone else have that icon on their map screen and if yes did you have to do something to make it show up? It would just be nice to turn off the navigation prompts when they aren't needed and then toggle them back on when they are. Thanks!
  2. I was trying to find it in the manual but you change the time zone in the navigation menus not the main system setting menus. I know it's been a while hopefully you've already figured this one out...
  3. Hmm, I don't it's now as large as a hard drive or fast as an SSD but what about using a 160gb iPod Classic? Wouldn't that index correctly with the tracks and show album art? The manual says it's supported and it might be a cleaner implementation. Well minus videos I guess but for music that should work... I wish I had one to try... The track sorting alphabetically instead of in order is annoying...
  4. Hmm, okay good point. If the price is reasonable I'd pay for it...
  5. The Apple World Wide Developer Conference starts Monday. My guess, since macrumors.com is reporting a couple weeks for the firmware upgrade (and that was a couple weeks ago when they did that), that they will announcing the upgrade tomorrow maybe with pioneer. Might seems to be the way Apple does stuff but who knows. Carplay was a major selling point for me but now that I have the unit if it's a dud (which I doubt it will be) I'm super happy with my 7000. I'm still not sure what to think of the connected services though, I want to try them but I'm not sure id pay a subscription to keep
  6. I went back to my installer today and they connected the VSS, Illumination and the on-star mute. Other than that they put the USB cable in port 2 instead of port 1 everything is good to go. So now I have a speed pulse reading, the ASL mode works, dimmer works correctly and if I hit my on star button it doesn't turn off the darn radio. I guess it's a little annoying that they didn't connect everything the first time but they took car of it and didn't give me any grief over it. Mike I'd really encourage you to get everything right. I know if I didn't it would annoy the crap out of me.
  7. AVIC-7000NEX - worked fine for me - it was nice to get that parking brake message to go away...
  8. Yeah I toggled that feature myself and it was a pain - but fortunately I did it right after I changed the option so I just went backward until it went away...
  9. 7000 cost and availability. Luckily I've never seen the 8000 and was originally going to do the 7000. The 7000 was really pushing my budget but I'm SUPER happy with it. Although I may have been really happy with the 5000 too. I'm kinda waiting for carplay (Apple's WWDC is Monday - so my guess is the new NEX firmware will post next week) but I'm really happy with the interface so if carplay is a dud I'm still really happy. Keep in mind I've never had a custom radio with upgraded speakers and I'm super happy with the way t sounds.
  10. Mines mounted on the head rest next to the visor. Sounds good and no complaints. My gf said I sounded good through it.
  11. So are you asking which one we have or which one we wish we had?
  12. Wow that's a real bummer. I hope pioneer takes care of you. Where did you get your unit from?
  13. I don't know, I'd call them back and ask about it. I think the speed sensor is also important for the ASL to work. I had that in my factory radio and really liked it. I've had the same issue - they didn't install the VSS or the Illumination wire. I'm heading back on Saturday for them to connect both of those. The manual turning down the display at night is a PITA. Even with the installation issues I'm super happy with the unit though!
  14. Ah that explains it - my alerts were in and around Los Angeles... I really wish they were more clear that avicsync isn't available yet..
  15. Hmm, that sucks... I got mine from a local dealer and didn't even think about this. No one else had them and I didn't want to do the install myself... Sure hope that doesn't blow up in my face...
  16. The weather thing, I think, is apart of avicsync which hasn't been released yet... I was beating my head against the wall for a bit about that myself. Now, live traffic seems to be working for me because I'm getting those alerts but I'm not entirely sure. I have the 7000
