  1. You need to download the apps to your iphone. They will then show up in car play. Stitcher is not one of them. Phil
  2. You have to select the computer voice if you want street names mentioned. Just go into the voices, and if you look at each listing, it will tell you which ones will announce street names and which ones won't. I believe the first one on the list is the computer voice. Phil
  3. I am hoping Apple does let other map apps into CarPlay. They already allowed three other Music apps even thought they have their own iTunes Radio. Time will tell. Phil
  4. I don't think there is yet, they almost look like they are listed in alphabetical order that starts right after the NEX icon. Phil
  5. If pioneer would put this option in the settings, it could be checked on startup. It only launches if you have usb enabled and CarPlay enabled. So if there is a switch in settings to launch Nex on startup, instead of CarPlay, it would check if CarPlay is enabled, and if it is, the switch would set CarPlay to "No", and launch Nex. If the switch is set to launch CarPlay on start up, it would check if usb is enabled, if not it would set this. Then it would check if CarPlay is enabled, if not, set it to "On"' and then launch CarPlay. Looks good on paper. Phil
  6. The SiriusXM you found is normal. The only time the text is bright is when the song is playing. When the song isn't playing, (the announcer is talking), the text is dimmed.
  7. I have had no issues with 8.1 yet. Spotify and Rdio all work great. Of course depending on my cell signal strength, they both could not load very fast or at all. Sitting in the Mcdonalds parking lot with their wi-fi, they both worked fantastic. I also have no problems with phone calls being tinny like others are reporting. I think CarPlay is very good. I would have designed a few things differently to be more user friendly though. And I would like to see Pioneer's software and CarPlay software a little more intertwined. Now all I need is great map app for CarPlay, (TomTom, MotionX,
  8. This is something that Pioneer could but in settings for the HU. A simple "Program to launch on start up". Nex or CarPlay
  9. I found you can use Rdio through Bluetooth if you activate it on your phone. You can't access your stations, but it will play and you can press the forward and backward buttons on the head unit. For those that don't use CarPlay but would like to use Rdio. Not the best solution, but it works. I would like to see CarPlay work thru Bluetooth also. Phil
  10. I am curious if all these apps that are updated for CarPlay will automatically put icons on the CarPlay screen. It would be nice to be able to delete the icons we do not want. Phil I guess the only way they will end up on the HU is if we download the apps to our phones.
  11. This is probably a stupid response, but are you sure all your speakers are in working order? My front speakers were shot when I installed my 7000, and I did not have siri and something else until I replaced those speakers. I forget what else I couldn't hear, but everything worked after the new speakers were replaced. Phil
  12. It seems as though most are not happy with the install of CarPlay and have been having all kinds of problems. I am guessing that Pioneer or Apple will not address these issues very shortly. So I am on the fence about even installing the update. I love my NEX 7000 the way it is, but still want CarPlay as an alternative function. Once CarPlay is installed, do all the standard NEX functions still work as before, or does CarPlay affect these in any way? Thanks Phil
  13. Thanks guys, I will check that. I did start the truck up again last night and did see the unit come alive. I shut it down right away, didn't have time to look at it. But at least I know it is not toast. Nice safety feature I guess, Phil
  14. Has anybody had a warning come up that the unit is overheating and that it is going to shut down? Mine did this and now won't start. Thanks Phil
  15. They still list CaPlay under each of the NEX pages. For how long is another question.
  16. I would be willing to bet that we will not see CarPlay, and they will not even update their web site when summer ends. Maybe they will just change the 2014 to 2015 on the site. They could not even have App Radio ready for the IOS upgrade, I m sure they will not care about CarPlay either.
  17. It seems most have the 5s and IOS 8 working fine with the head unit, not counting app radio, never liked that anyway. So I upgraded my 5s to the new ios and will check out the 7000 tomorrow. Hopefully everything still works the same as before the update. Thanks Phil Plus if I check it now and it does not work right, I will be up all night with that on my mind.
  18. I know Pioneer stated what is not working with IOS 8, but that seems to be mostly with App Radio. I am interested in what problems others are having with the latest IOS with just the Head Unit. Like Bluetooth, Maps, Phone, etc, before I upgrade. I have the 5s iPhone and did not upgrade the software, and might not depending what others are going through. At least not until Pioneer updates the Units. Thanks Phil
  19. That statement is not backed up by any proof. It does not say that he was in talk with Apple and they confirmed they are ready to release CarPlay. They actually debuted CarPlay months ago. CarPlay might be a finished product as far as Apple is concerned. The actual app will, I imagine, be from Pioneer once they are ready to release it. But then I could be wrong. Phil
  20. Is there a limit to the number of locations you can store in Saved Locations? If it is mentioned in the manual, I missed it. I have 8 Saved Locations plus the Home and Work spots. I have tried to save more locations, but they do not get saved. The message says Location Saved, but when I check my list, they are not there. Thanks Phil
  21. I can help with number 2. When in navigation, you click the menu icon to go to a new destination. When the window for entering a new destination comes up, select saved locations, then click the menu Icon again, before selecting a location. This should bring up the edit delete option. You just have to select the location you want to edit from the list. Phil
  22. I have the NEX 7000 and I do not get any static. I played music from all my apple products and it sounds fantastic. And I have the latest updates on all of them.
  23. I thought Apple releases the beta/developer editions to all interested parties before the release so they are ready when it is released. Phil
  24. http://9to5mac.com/2014/08/26/usa-today-for-iphone-outs-itself-as-a-future-carplay-app/ Of course this does not mean we will see it at any specific date.
