    Can anyone share the software hack to get the 4000nex upgraded to 4100 software? I would love to use android auto

    So if I can find and put a 4100 IMG sd card into my 4000 nex it will be a 4100nex? Android auto and everything will work ?

    It's been awhile since I've been active, but I thought I'd stop by to see if anyone ever got it working to have Android auto since it's the same hardware. I did a quick search and didn't find anything. Here's to hoping....

    Im sorry but you guys are fools to think Pioneer will update the radio. I can tell by your post count you're new. They wont update the 8100 to have the 8200 features. Look at the 4000, its the exact same unit as the 4100 but pioneer wont update the 4000 to support Android Auto. Its an absolute joke. I dont feel bad for people who keep buying these for $700 or $1000. The company has obviously not made any advancements in the last few year and are just re-releasing products that are the same as the previous year. Open your eyes people

    Ya im thinking this project is dead unfortunately. I was really hoping too. I dont even care about a custom rom, I just wanted BT to work when I installed 4100 firmware on my 4000.

    Hopefully theres still progress being made. I check this thread everyday wanting atleast Android Auto working on my 4000nex. Heres to keeping my fingers crossed

    Awesome work. I wish i knew how to develop a ROM. Until then my 4000nex awaits bluetooth working android auto or another custom rom!

    Goodluck to you guys. Ive got a 4000nex and its so close to working. The only thing not working is bluetooth which you already know. If you need me to test something just let me know.

    Im curious as well. If we dont have a 8100 or 4100 person willing to give us a sdcard dump then what about just taking the Android Auto apk from the 8100 file and putting it into the 8000 file and trying an install?

    I believe someone said carplay played music of the cable, but not sure. I don't use anything Apple. Yes you are correct, the bluetooth infomation still goes through but the audio doesnt. If you need someone to test anything or help in anyways let me know I got a 4000nex.

    I would think its the same chip. What about if you move the android auto apk over to the old file and install on unit?

    Awesome. Nice job. I wrote a nasty email also. Unfortunately they just don't care and most people don't see anything wrong with what they did. I'm glad I'm not alone.

    Im going with the Kennwood releasing next month or waiting for Parrot one that looks good but wont be released til later this year. Pioneer will never get another cent front me

    The only update was the screen i believe. Obviously our first gen next has all the hardware to run everything correctly. We use bluetooth on the old firmware, so no reason why it cant work with new. Also ANdroid auto runs just fine, there is no lag and usb connection is good. So there is no excuse.

    Did you try to revert back to 1.08 and keep the 3.41 bluetooth folder and see if bluetooth worked?

    This is the reason why i wont buy anther pioneer product, instead of releasing a simple firmware update (obviously the units have no problem with the software) they make us jump through hoops to get it going. The units are less than a year old, unreal

    Ahh this is really frustrating. Everything works except BT audio, it connects and shows you whats playing but wont do audio. Then as soon as you downgrade it works again. Theres got to be a way.

    Yea, Its the same file when you download the update. Again, without BT working its useless.
