  1. I'll add another one to your list which, based on my reading on this forum there are many others who would agree, is adding 2D Track Up. It's absolutely ridiculous that this isn't an option in Nav mode - I've never seen a GPS that doesn't have that view as this is the view that most people use.
  2. Exactly what I was wondering. Also, I'm a little confused - what is the difference between the software bypass and the hardware bypass? The hardware bypass allows you to watch video (among other things) while in motion, correct?
  3. Crap... was hoping for 2d heading up..... updating as I'm typing... Me too!!! Not having 2D track up is ridiculous! However, I'm glad to hear about the other improvements.
  4. I want to thank everyone in this thread for providing me with much needed assistance. I figured I would end the thread by reporting that I ended up finding what I believe is a very good cost for an F series install from what seems to be a good shop. The guy at the shop suggested that I find the harness and dash kit online rather than them supplying it which would save me some cash, which it certainly did. Now, the total cost of the install will be $122. Of course, I had to pay for the harness and dash kit on my own (which is running me approx 90 bucks). Therefore, the grand total for the
  5. I just got off the phone with them (very helpful I might add). The price quote I received was $249.85. Apparently the harness for a Chevy Equionox is pretty expensive ($100+). I was happy with that quote but then when I said I would want the steering wheel adapter (PAC SWI-PS) also installed I was quoted an additional $89.90, bringing the grand total to $338.75. Much better than the $455 quote I received yesterday but still costly.
  6. Just for clarification... the F series WILL list POI's by distance, correct? I've played around with it before at Circuit City and Best Buy and could have sworn that it does.
  7. $100??? What exactly did you have them install? That's one hell of a price if that's the cost for a full install (i.e. radio, xm, nav, etc.).
  8. If you don't see the 25% cashback logo then its not back.
  9. Thanks for the info - good news is that you're right about the bypass but the cost of the install just about made me fall out of my chair. While the price may be in line with other shops, I just wasn't expecting it to be this much. The total cost that I was quoted was $455. $15 Dash Kit $100 Harness $10 Antenna Adapter $200 Radio $50 Bluetooth $50 Navigation $30 XM Tuner Thanks for your response and the info (which is very helpful). I'll check out some other shops and see if I can get the price down. If not, I'm going to have a hard time justifying spending over $400 just f
  10. He asked if bluetooth was built in to the unit and I said yes. However, I told him that I would need an external mic wired. Is $50 excessive for doing this? Also, I do need the mic don't I? One other question - is the mic included in the F90BT box? I haven't even opened the box yet. Mutantblack - the install for the radio itself is $200.
  11. Okay, I've checked out some pricing from one shop that will do the bypass for free. While this looks expensive to me, what do you think? $15 Dash Kit $100 Harness $10 Antenna Adapter $200 Radio $50 Bluetooth $50 Navigation $30 XM Tuner TOTAL = $455

  13. I'm glad to hear that you were able to get the cashback although I have no idea how. I just don't think your hypothesis is correct though because I've tried using another account that I've never used cashback with and no cashback. Also, it appears that there have been a couple of reports of getting cashback (from members on this site) without having to use a different id. At any rate, all that matters for you is that you got a darn good deal!
  14. Are you certain you got the 25% cashback? I've already done what you described above on two different computers (probably clicked the refresh button over 150 times) and the only thing I get when searching is "Live Search Cashback" which is not affiliated with eBay.
  15. That's actually not correct. I've probably clicked on the cashback link 60-70 times without buying and there hasn't been an issue. Also, it isn't a "trick", it's just a darn good program that I don't see lasting very long. At any rate, what you're describing is an issue that everyone seems to be having right now. It appears that Microsoft has pulled the cashback program through eBay. Hopefully this is just a temporary pull as I have more buying to do!
  16. Wow, that really sucks. I had plans for some more purchases. Oh well, at least I bought my unit this past weekend and got the savings! I also bought something completely unrelated through the cashback program last night. I do hope it comes back! However, I never could understand how they could justify a 25% cashback. I figured all a long that it's just a matter of time until they pull out of eBay and just offer their savings through their website (which only has modest savings from select stores).
  17. Well, I've flipped back and forth as much as a pancake over the last month as it relates to purchasing the F90BT; However, I've finally decided that I would like to move forward but ONLY if I could get it done with the bypass. I just wouldn't be interested in a unit without the bypass. So, this leads me to my question... I live in Tampa, FL - does anyone know of a shop or person near me that is reasonably priced AND will do the bypass? Heck, I'd even drive a couple of hours if that meant I could get a good installation at a fair price. Any of you fellow Floridians have some info tha
  18. Thanks for the info! Regarding your price quotes, all I can say is WOW! $310 - $400 just for the install. I had no idea this would cost me so much. Also, if they didn't do the bypass for me, I wouldn't be too happy with the unit being that many things of the things you listed that are disabled I would like to be able to use while driving. Anyone have any suggestions for places to install in the Tampa, FL area? I could go as far as Orlando, since I work in Lakeland.
  19. With all of the issues I've heard about the F90BT, I've been looking for another unit. However, I believe I've come full circle. The Kenwood 5120 was the last unit standing before returning to Pioneer, and I believe it just fell. While I like the navigation, the interface seems pretty boring and plain. I looked at the Sirius interface when playing music and it was very plain compared to that of Pioneer units. I'm going with XM so if the XM on the Kenwood 5120 is the same (or similar) to the Sirius interface, I don't think I'm going to shell out bucks for a device with such a plain look to
  20. 5 Questions about the Install... 1. If I decide to go with the F90BT, I want to make sure I purchase EVERYTHING I need for it so that the place that ends up doing the install doesn't charge me for things that I can get much cheaper. Based on my research, the following is the list that I have developed: XM Tuner (GEX-P920XM) Steering Wheel Audio Control Adapter (PAC SWI-PS) iPod Adapter (CD-IU230V) I believe I probably need some kind of harness, but I'm not too sure. I own a 2007 Chevy Equinox. Is there anything that I'm leaving out from the list above? 2. Based on a fair
  21. I'll fully admit that I've only demoed the unit at Circuit City, however, in the little time that I spent testing the F90BT I could see that the 3D mode had it's flaws. For one, you don't get as much information/detail in 3D mode as compared to 2D. In 2D mode I could see many more names of streets than in 3D mode. The other issue is that the device will not allow you to zoom out very far while in 3D mode compared to that of 2D mode. This bothers me becuase when I'm driving any considerable distance (which I do every day), I want to be able to zoom out a bit to get an idea of where I am in
  22. I think this issue is probably going to keep me from buying the unit. However, I'm thinking about waiting until the update comes out before making a decision in hopes that they add the 2D Track Up view. Is this just wishful thinking? I'm wondering if this is the kind of thing they could change with an update or if it would be more complicated than they would want to do.
  23. While I've done a lot of reading about the F90BT, I haven't had a chance to play with it, until today. Because of my research, I knew going into it that the navigation only had a 3D mode and a 2D mode (without track up). However, I didn't realize how big of an issue that is probably going to be for me until seeing it today. I've used an external garmin unit for the last two years and the only mode I have ever found useful is the 2D track up mode. However, I was hoping that the 3D mode would suffice. What I found, by having the unit demo a route similar to my daily 40 minute commute,
  24. What about fixing the absence of track up when viewing the navigation in 2D mode. I can not understand for the life of me why they would leave that out as that is something you find on every unit on the market (obviously for good reason).
