1. Hold the hard drive in your palm with the screw you want to work on at the base of your thumb. Hold firmly but don't break the drive. Push inward pretty firmly as you start to turn the screw - very slow, and you will break the friction holding the screw in. Repeat on the other 3 screws before taking them out completely. It's a finesse thing, if you have a solid knack for f***ing things up, maybe talk to someone who you know is better at this sort of thing. Otherwise get your Dremel out and slot those screws and never look back! USE A GOOD screwdriver. Toomey's screwdriver that he incl
2. Yeah, that's krazy! I'd like a copy for my Z1, upgrading to Z3 as soon as I get my new HDD. How do I load it onto the z1 upgraded to z3? I guess I have to burn it onto a disc?
3. Can someone please get this posed on the usenet? Can someone mail me an image disc, and then I'll upload it to the usenet? Can someone transfer the file or post it on FTP and I can d/l it and then post it to the usenet? This is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comcast throttles p2p and I want to choke them. I've searched, and haven't found an alternative to torrent d/l... thx!
4. Ok - so I found the VSS. It very well might be at the ECM, but it's not yellow/black. It is DEFINITELY under the dash, driver's side to the left of the steering column, in the large black interface. You have to squeeze the two clips at the top, and pull forward and up to take it off the bracket. THEN, carefully spin it around, and you should see the same as what's in the attached image. I just took off a little tape from the bundle leading to the right side of that module, and the wire that is green with white tracer will be right there. Enough room to strip back a little insulation and
5. HELP! Putting my Z1 in my new 07 sierra NEW style. SOmeone PLEASE send me wiring diagrams OR listings/colors. I cannot find the REVERSE at the BCM. Holy cow, I have to get this installed. Lots of room behind the dash on the 07 NEW sierra, but I think I tried to overstuff with the XM tuner in the dash too! Think I'll relocate that before I finish up.
6. This isn't correct. It has a chime that will sound if you leave the turn signal on too long. If the relay on the GMAHLAN starts clicking, then you are pulling to much current from the RAP/Acc wire and the radio will not power up. So - then the question is: Why would they make a harness with a relay built in, and why does crutchfield, in their notes, explain that you need a relay to keep turn signal click. I know companies produce shitty things every day, but come on, these trucks have been out for over a year, and you figure that if it was an issue, they'd yank the GMAHLAN or redesign
7. Gonna pick up the PESWIPS tomorrow. If I'm gonna install this thing for a second time, I'm gonna get some new toys outta this the second time What else can I do? I have XM, bkup cam, BT adapt, now the factory steering (hope it works), I want to add a changer eventually. ALso picking up GMAHLAN. This comes with a relay to simulate the TURN SIGNAL clicking. Jesus, soon the factory radio is going to make the engine noise for you, and you're gonna Barney Rubble to work, and we'll like it too, because we're good consumers. Come on anyone else have info on installing the Z1 / Z2 int
8. Well, I have the non-bose cd player option, probably the standard level. Does the metra pass that wire through? because the only options are either BOSE or NON-BOSE harness choices from all of the mfr's that I looked at.
9. Just ordered metra's GMOS-LAN-01 for non-bose WITH onstar. Could it be that I can tap something in the dash or at the factory harness? Not too happy about doing another install, as the last one took me 1 day, but 2 days worth of prep and wire tracing. Also I ordered the schosche 142GM1598B and the antenna adapt blah blah.. I wanted to know if anyone has or knows of an adapter to utilize the factory steering wheel controls for the Z1. THanks agaiN!!!
10. Can anyone confirm that the VSS on the NEW BODY STYLE GMC sierras etc, are still at the cluster? Pin and wire color would be great, I bought a new Sierra and have to move my install over from my '05 sierra. I already read the post about the install kit, etc.. Thanks! Any info would be great, as always!

TeleAtlas does the maps for Pioneer NAV products. It's listed in the user guide with the map data license agreement. If you find an inconsistency, then visit the link below, and fix it. If you put the location in and it looks correct on this web site, then chances are that the next update to the map will be correct. If it's still wrong on the web site, then add the correction and comments... Also, send a comment to TeleAtlas stating that their competitor has subdivisions, etc... I will. Sometimes ya gotta be that squeaky wheel. [url=http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/cfl?ClientI
12. Behind the cluster - removed with 4 screws once dash trim is pulled off, The VSS wire is dark green/white, pin A4 in the harness. Just tap into it there. Seems everything from 2004 up for GMC and Chevy is all the same for VSS. see this thread: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... sierra+vss
13. It's worth trying to re-ground your negative behind the radio. Look for a good piece of CLEAN bare metal, like dash reinforcement cage, etc... and use a self-tapping sheet metal screw and a ring terminal. Just make a good connection from the vehicle frame to your negative wires on the harness, especially if you just used the stock radio negative in the harness. It definitely can't hurt, and it very well might fix the hum or buzz. Probably more important than the ground, make sure you don't run any audio cables along side of power cables, as much as possible. That can definitely get your s
14. Depending on how the unit installs, if it's recessed or not, you could always fabricate a facade from a photo of your stock h/u. See this thread for some cool ideas... http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 38&start=0 I scanned in my stock h/u and made a mock-up of it, using photo paper, and I even made 3-d buttons and knobs that I epoxied on to a plastic overlay on top of the photo paper. Looks damn convincing, and it sits about flush to the dash. These people trolling around for radios to steal, a

If your truck is like my '05 Sierra, then it's here:
Speed Sense dk. green/white 4K instrument cluster, pin A4 or PCM - The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is in the left front of the engine compartment to the left of the fan shroud. The VSS wire is in the green plug, pin 50. It is much easier to get it at the cluster than the PCM
