  1. so this thing is going to do what with a serial number? it looks like pioneer is going to sell these at brick and mortar stores only. you cant tell me these guys(best buy and such) are going to be doing anything to the SD card to make it only work with your serial number. Also my 700bt doesnt dial out or anything so there is no way pioneer is going to know if i bought the firmware or used someone elses. its not going to be like verifying my copy of windows. i predict whatever security they build in gets hacked and uploaded to the web pretty quick. or you can just buy it o
  2. they should really make a free firmware upgrade for those of us that dont care about the new maps.
  3. im not sure how much the wiring is just like its cousins the jeeps patriot and compass... but if you check out jeeppatriot dot com there is a great walkthrough for installing a d3. this install is identical the to the avic f series...
  4. well it would cost me a ton for another phone at the moment. i moved the mic as close as i could and it seems to work better. i just find it funny there is no mic volume anywhere...
  5. i just went through the manual and searched here a little bit but cannot find this info... can i turn the mic sensitivity up? people are saying they cannot hear me on the phone. my mic is in the exact same place as it was on the d3 i use to have. it seems like there is no place in the settings to turn the volume up. i can turn the volume of the persons voice im calling but cannot make my voice louder. any thoughts?
  6. i bought from him too. installed this weekend. the box is different than the normal one. you dont get the nice looking red/white box. you get a cardboard one with red writing on it that says refurb on the outside. needless to say i installed it and it went fine. 25% percent cashback and 10% off cant beat! lets hope it doesnt fail. btw the only thing im having problems with is VR. How long should it take to load the VR for a 80 gig 5.5 ipod. its almost 100% full of music? it didnt load on my 30 min commute to work.
  7. ok so i had a d3 in my brand new car and it was stolen in about 3 weeks. now i think im going to try to replace it with a 700bt... and now a viper alarm anyway my question is... so my backup camera is still there from when it was attached to the d3. the rca plug was ripped off of the camera when the d3 was ripped out. can i just take any old rca cable i might have laying around and splice that in? id rather not have to drop another hundred on a camera if i can just use the existing wiring. also wouldnt mind not having to wire the backup camera. ive been trying to google and it s
  8. im thinking bout making the plunge. can someone who has an f series and has been using the msn traffic in the dc area comment on its usefulness. i have this fear that the entire map is just going to be red saying bad traffic.
  9. please completely ignore. apparently you have to touch the screen of the d3 and then it works! i missed that somewhere! good thing i only spent like 5 hours researching...........
  10. thanks for the response. hmmm i cannot use my 5.5g with 1.2.3 and a buddies 5g with 1.2.3. let me explain in more detail. when i plug it in and go into the AV menu. i select Ipod. It instantly starts playing music(GOOD). but across the screen it says "use ipod for operation" in white against a black background(BAD). it charges the ipod. the ipod plays fine. but the controls are not on the screen. i have not tested video. i have no video on the ipod. is anyone else using 1.2.3??? are there settings on the ipod/d3 i need to change??? i spent all day looking for stuff on
  11. What iPods will work with my AVIC-D3? What iPods will work with my AVIC-D3? well i think i answered my own question. from proneer webpage...................... im guessing my 5.5 with v1.2.3 is obviously greater than 1.2.1 and therefore not supported. For the AVIC-D3 and AVIC-N4, iPod® Control is available with the CD-I200 (iPod® interface cable) and compatible with: > 5th generation/Firmware Version 1.2.1 > 4th iPod® Version 3.1.1 > 3rd iPod® Version 2.3 > iPod® photo Version 1.2.1 > iPod® mini Version 1.4.1 > iPod® nano 2nd generation Ver
  12. from what i gather this should work? everytime i plug the ipod in the d3 says use the ipod to control everything. what am i doing wrong? do i need to downgrade firmware? any advice would be great. i would ultimatly like to be able to control video and music from the d3...
  13. can anyone tell me the difference between the two? i want to install a d3 in my 07 patriot with base system. crutchfield says it doesnt fit. i have seen successful installs using the CHYAH05. but crutchfield says the n4 fits and says to buy the PAC C2R-CHYNA to make it work. really i only ask because the PAC C2R-CHYNA is $70 cheaper including %50 discount on crutchfield. are they the same thing. from what i found they do the same thing but the CHYAH05 is used with the factory amp and the PAC C2R-CHYNA does not.
