1. I have the hard-wired bypass on mine and I did the update as I drove to work today! It was successful and all is working fine with the grounding bypass. Can anyone tell me how I can delete old Bluetooth phones from the Avic Z1? Can I delete all my phones and start over? Thanks!
2. Just to assure you that phone does work, I have it connected OK... So, it is just a matter of where you start the discovery process and using the correct pass key. I usually have my phone start the discovery. I found starting the discovery via the nav unit resulted in a constant request for the passkey even though I entered it and it was already accepted. So, I would make sure both devices are discoverable and start with the PPC. I would also do a reset on the PPC first.... Mine is always giving me weird fits, so starting with a clean slate is a must! Let us know.
3. Agro and company... Is there an update available for the Z1? BTW - The echo is a software issue (for sure IMO)... But... What is this about a new ISO?
4. Thanks for the info! Bummer they are so secretive about it but it is encouraging to know they are working on an update. For the money we spend on these Nav units they should be more "open source" to allow the user base to tweak them and make them better. We'd have some pretty sweet features if that were possible!
5. Just curious if we are all on the same version number? MENU - SETTINGS - HARDWARE I know we've alluded to updates on previous posts, but does anyone know if Pioneer is actively pursuing updates for the Z1 or not? I'd like to see improvements made to the iPod interface (if possible by s/w update, but I dunno), Bluetooth echo issues, lack of speed sensitive volume control, and general map updates. I guess that is my Santa list for this year.
6. Yeah, I also get... "Your destination is ahead on the left" when in fact it is on the right. My Z1 thinks my house is on the left side of the street but it is not. I think it has to do with how your address is numbered and if you even use an address to find your destination. I think addresses get a left/right otherwise not..? Sound reasonable? I'll try it tomorrow and see if there is any logic to it!
7. I'm pretty sure it is not the mic but the way the Z1 handles voice cancelling. The unit needs to cancel out the callers. This is a function of Mobile Windows. This is something Pioneer needs to fix with an update. We all need to complain bitterly to Pioneer. This unit costs too much money to operate like this (Bluetooth echo). BT needs to be a useable function or they need to drop support for it; otherwise they are just taking our money. Some folks are confusing a noise cancelling function with voice (echo) cancelling. Noise cancelling is like the Bose Quiet Comfort headset... Voice
8. Does the Z1 adjust volume for speed? If so, is it adjustable (the sound, not the speed ) ?
9.

So our Avic does not get time from the satellite? My old Nissan factory nav unit did that... Seems pretty basic. oh well.
Yes it does get the time from the sat, but you can change it for the time zone you are in and turn on summer time (daylight savings time). I think you can also adjust it forward and backwards by a minute or 2 if you were so inclined.
Good deal! I must not have had the daylight savings mode on then. Thanks!
10. Heavier because of the paint huh? hehe So, for functionality it doesn't matter then, right? So, I may as well go with the cheaper one? Do you find installs to be the same with either one? Thanks again!

12. Pioneer has the CD-IB100 on sale for $45 but they also list the CD-IB100II for $50. Can anyone tell me the difference (besides one is gray and one is black...)? Here is the link to Pioneer Z1 parts.
13. I'm finding several discrepencies with my Z1 street listings in my area. There are a few streets that have changed to one-way, or have been closed, or have been added, as much as 2 years ago, and they are not correct on the Z1. It's time for an update... We can't update this information ourselves can we? I guess I could put in a "avoid" area for the one-way streets to avoid being guided the wrong way on a one-way street... Whomever (me) wants updates probably should start writing to Pioneer to ask for them so they'll know they are wanted/needed.
14. I'll try mine in the morning. It is worth a shot. This echo is so bad that more often than not, I have to NOT use the BT... :-(
15. I used to have a stock stereo that included a rear seat DVD entertainment setup: DVD player in center armrest console, DVD screen in roof, IR headphones and dual zone capability. OK-- ONE Now with the Z1, I was able to retain the rear seat video player and screen. The video and audio are sent to the Z1 so I can see the video in front and back, but ONLY if I put the DVD into the Nissan DVD player. If I put the DVD in the Z1, I can see and hear it, but the rear screen will not show it. OK-- TWO The Nissan DVD player is always on. When a disc is in and Stop is pressed, it stops, then
16. Turns out my static was from a bad amp. We replaced the amp and all is well again! I do have an issue with the back seat video, but I'm going to start a new topic on that one....
17. I have a newly installed Z1 in my '06 Nissan Titan and I have a light buzzing all the time too. The buzzing is very light and cannot be heard unless the engine is off. However, I have an added problem that is going to be checked this Saturday morning.... I have a popping that comes out of the left speakers (front only I think) fairly regularly. Not just a hiss, but a popping. It almost sounds like someone is lightly scratching the surface of a microphone and then flicking it. Kinda - scratch, scratch, scratch, thunk! Just FYI, I have a 07/06 build and am using the wiring-harness-byp
18. No worries.... that's what forums are here for: questions... It is sometimes tough to find what you are looking for on boards. One has to master the art of keyword searches... :D I have tried burning MP3's to DVD as a data disc and have tried burning MP3's to DVD in some kind of CD music mode using Nero. Neither worked. I just had to try to satisfy my own curiosity.
19. I used the BC1 from Pioneer and paid close to $150 for it. One thing to look for, if this matters to you, is the low light ability of the camera. The BC1 has a very good low-light ability. I think it is rated 1.5 lux. It is very useable at night. ...just a thought.
20. The guys at Car Toys told me these bluetooth adapters are on back order, and have been for a few weeks... I purchased mine from a place called compuplus.com for $119.
21. I mentioned in another posting here that I think the problem is with the way the Z1 handles the hands-free voice. The microphone will make little or no difference and will most likely be due to it being directional or placement away from speakers, etc... What we really need is an update to the Z1 to do better voice cancelling within the unit (different than noise cancelling) and or an option to turn the duplex from full to half and back again as we need. The microphones may help, but are not a real solution for us. I could be way off base, but a typical mic of this size and calibre lacks
22.
Hold down the AV button
Thanks!
23. You know, the problem is more than likely the implementation of the hands free within the Z1. The Z1 needs to compensate for the voice on the speakers; basically cancel it out. Not the same as noise cancelling, but close. I don't think a different microphone is going to help. Maybe marginally due to it being more directional or mounted so it doesn't "hear" the speakers as well, but the sound going in is just that... the sound going in... The system needs to subtract the unwanted portion of that sound, not the mic. The other option is to change the microphone characteristics to be half-dup
24. Here is one too: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... age=search For use with the TomTom and voice calling.
25.
Any more news on getting ahold of the parrot mic?
Same interest here. My Z1 was just put in yesterday and all the callers so far have heard the echo. My phone is the PPC-6700 from Sprint. The quality is otherwise very very good. People can be heard nice and clearly without crackling. I don't hear echos, they do. A new mic would be great!
