1.
It has an attenuate (mute) capability through the hard wired remote port. I used a switch on my steering wheel controls for it.
I can verify this. The PAC-swi-ps has an odd programing "feature" that seems to leave any unused button as the ATT function. So, my "Power" button on my steering wheel controls is the ATT button. Works great! My question is..... How do you turn the power off on this thing and just use the NAV?
2. I decided to go all out and have the entire system replaced. I ended up having the Z1, bluetooth, XM, backup camera, 6 channel JL amp, 6.5" Focal components in all four doors, a 10" JL sub with custom box, the new bezel and the PAC-swi-ps plus all the associated cables and wires (higher end stuff too). My damage is around $4500 for all including labor and parts. The install really is taking two days now! But that is OK, it was a lot of stuff to install and the guys were working on it literally all day today (9 to 9). I cannot wait to see it and hear it! Of course I will take as many pi
3. Music Match also works. iTunes only does the tags with iPods. Ridiculous imposed limitation with iTunes and Windows...
4. OK! I have all my components and I am ready for my 9AM installation tomorrow! Here are the goodies!
5. A great resource for that type of information can be found at www.the12volt.com In fact, look here specifically (2001): http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/for ... p?TID=8883 Looks like it is half way down this list... I would connect the VSS for dead reckoning (I think the Z1 has that). Good luck! ITEM | WIRE COLOR |POL| WIRE LOCATION | | 12V|red |+ |ignition harness | | STARTER|pur
6. Yep! To my knowledge (and iTunes experience), iTunes will not correctly write out CDtext to a CD-R. I know it is an option but it is not supported. It is supported for iPods only... Kinda blows. MusicMatch will and I think Nero will too.
7.
I use the cell phone mute wire for my back up alarm. It now mutes the Z1 when it activates.
Can you still run a bypass if you do your method? Could one "splice" into the mute wire and run it to both places? Like cntrylvr79 says, that is a great idea!
8.
Forgot to mention, it took my installer 3 hours to do the install, so saying it would take 2 days is rediculous. I would guess that your installer isn't very experienced, because I figure it would take ME two days to do it, and I have fairly limited experience. So if your guy is telling you it would take 2 days, he's lying. Go somewhere else. BestBuy usually has fixed prices that they have to charge for these installs, so see what they say.
hehe Read my mind. I called a guy at Best Buy that has worked on my Titan before and I am scheduled to do th
9. Yeah, I was thinking around $400, so $500 wouldn't kill me, but $1300... Anyone know custom installers in the Spokane Washington area? :-) Wish I had the time to do it myself as I'm sure I could given the time...
10. OK, I contacted three installers (2 custom and Best Buy). The first custom installer got back to me. I will be his first Nissan Titan install, but he has done many Z1's. He said for the Z1, Bluetooth, Backup Camera, and XM will take two days and he charges about $55 an hour. Basically, it will cost me around $1300! I think that is way out of line. He suggested that I cannot re-use my current amp and speakers either. I have the LE model with the Rockford Fosgate 350 Watt amp. Others, on titantalk.com, have said it is all re-useable. That would keep my cost way down. What do y
11. OK. I ended up getting my setup from Amazon.com, a company called Electronica Direct that ended up really being CompuPlus.com. The sales people were nice, but the lady who runs the credit cards was a bit nasty, but liveable. I got the Z1, BT1, BC1, 3YR warranty and overnight shipping (so I can start this weekend) for $2068. They are one of those places that likes to charge a ton for shipping, but thanks to Amazon's shipping policy, I was able to have all this shipped overnight for around $60. To get the warranty, I had to phone my order in. The real test will be seeing if it all arrive
12. Ah, the harness! Think Best Buy carries those? If not, I'll go over to Metra and get one. I'm guessing it is going to be a post-July 06 model but I guess I'll know when I get it. Thanks for the link too!
13. OK, I just ordered my new Z1 with the following options: GEX-P920XM XM tuner ND-BT1 bluetooth adapter ND-BC1 backup camera PAC Swi-ps steering wheel audio control interface Dual A/C bezel for my 2006 Nissan Titan LE Mack 3 year in-dash Navigation warranty The Z1, Mack warranty and ND parts came from CompuPlus via Amazon.com. The PAC Swi-ps and GEX came from Crutchfield. The aftermarket bezel came off of eBay. I contacted Mack and they verified that the Z1 is covered under their warranty (service contract). All is due to arrive this Friday or sooner.
14.
its an add on that will allow you to control the z1 with your factory steering wheel remote buttons. a big plus is that you can then have a mute button!
Where can I get one of these gems? EDIT: Nevermind... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-o9FvwsjSEBY/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=127SWIPS&s=0&cc=01
15. Can anyone speak for the reliability of Z1? It sure is tempting to save $800 and buy at one of these online retailers, but have there been problems with the Z1 or is it a pretty stable device?
16. I went to their website today to checkout the Z1 and they prominently advertise that they are Pioneer Authorized right on the Z1 page. I wonder if they can say that if they are not. I also figure that IF they are Pioneer Authorized at all, then they are authorized for all Pioneer products...? Anyone know how that thing works?
17. What is the "pac swi-ps"? I see it mentioned alot. Is it something that comes with the Z1 or is it an add-on?
18. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, but unless they sell the product at full retail, Pioneer will not consider it authorized... Just echoing some posts I ran across here.
19. Hum, I wrote to them and they told me they don't offer package deals. Are you talking about a sale of some kind? They don't offer service contracts (warranties, whatever) either unless you place the order by phone. They do seem like nice folks though. I am out of town for a couple more days so I don't want to order yet, but I may give them a shot.
20. So are we basically saying that we should buy retail only?
21.
No, you can only get it through an "authorized dealer". That's how the dealers make their money, they sell it for different prices... I bough a 5 year extension for $199.00, and most websites sell a 3 year extension for like $399.00... look into the prices b/c they are all the same service plan, so you shoudln't have to pay more.
So are there any available for those who purchase from non-authorized dealerships? If so, any suggestions and/or links?
22. Can one purchase a contract straight through Repairtech? I didn't see that option on their website. The only thing I saw was an option to "register your warranty" that required a "warranty or membership number".
23.
My horrible ongoing experience with 6thAve. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1611
Now THAT is good to know! Thank you from the bottom of my wallet! No 6th Ave for me! I would have blown an artery by now. I do hope you get that Amex charge frozen. Shmoes like 6th Ave have no business being "authorized". Did you write to Pioneer? Thanks again for the heads up!
24.
Inspector, ask for ashiesh tell him I sent you real good person. you wont go wrong with him. and his shipping price are not astrounamical like alot of these websites. grcplaya
Coolbeans. Thanks!
25. Related to this thread I think.... Where can I get the best price for a 3 year warranty? Can anyone tell me what 6th Ave will be asking for their warranty?? Customer service means more to me than saving a few bucks too so AVD may be just the ticket! Hey grcplaya, you say there is going to be a bundle special coming up? Did you have a contact person ?? Thanks
