  1. Bumping this rather than my own thread - didn't realize there was a backgrounds forum. Finally got somewhere with this. The correct ratio seems to be 1200X720 (no, not 1280 for some reason) or some multiple of that. This results in no changes when you use the trim function to correct photos with the wrong ratio. Next, unless I'm mistaken Pioneer has tied file size restrictions to photo resolution. God knows why. So, 1200X720 with a file size smaller than 100K works. Any more than 100K at that same resolution and it wont. Then, 2400X1440 with a file size smaller than 200K wo
  2. Trying to get a good background and man this thing is finicky. The manual says the display is 2400x480. So, I have tried the following: A 2400X480 pixel image in high, middle and low qualities (hoping the unit would squeeze it into view) A 8##X480 (16:9....I can't recall the width) pixel image in high, middle and low qualities Same images as above but @ 479 pixel height to see if 480 is a threshold. Changed the tag from .jpg to .jpeg A much smaller image. All alpha character file names Earlier I had found a bunch of images on the web I wanted to try. Some worked, some didn't.
  3. Can the video out on the nav head units mirror exactly what I see on the main unit? The secondary display would be just that - a display only. Also, anyone know what resolution the video out displays? Sorry for the noob question, and TIA!
  4. Why? There's an option to turn that on in iGO through SYS.TXT, but it's generally a pain... Again, why should it? Z-series software does it that way. Pretty much any other navigation just selects the location that yo have clicked. iGO sets a cursor location there, which is just as good an action as any... 1. Because it's far easier for users to "push" the map in the direction they need it to go and stop it in a little bit than it is for users to devote their attention and their hand long enough to the unit to click-drag-click-drag-click-unsuccessful drag-click-drag-bumpy road wait-c
  5. Now that I've had a while to use it, I'm only now getting the unit to work in a way that I feel is ACCEPTABLE. Not great...just good. When reading the following, keep in mind that I use the F500 only for BT calling, and traffic information. Occasionally it will be used for navigation. I know you folks know many of these already, but... What sucks: -map becomes unresponsive. You have to click and drag and wiggle to get the thing to "wake up" sometimes. -clicks and drags aren't very reliable. Sometimes is registers your drag, sometimes not. -map should keep moving/scrolling after y
  6. ...the signs also seem to take up some processing power...my unit always slows down and is reluctact to register inputs when it's about to display a sign. In places where there are lots of signs...it really cramps the user experience.
  7. Click and drag is noticeably better...even with my limited use. Button clicks aren't quite perfect, but pretty good. I forgot to mention one really noteworthy thing. In a great example of packaging waste, the CD case with the two SD cards was sent to me in a 12"x12"x6" box. Nice job.
  8. It's done. It took about 1:15. It now shows Map: 2.000400, Version: 3.010200 . The only lameness were two errors while updating and some lame instructions. Pressing retry got past the errors. As for the instructions, only after you've completed all of the instructions does it actually give you a couple extra instructions for how to update an F500!! Ya think you maybe should have mentioned that first...given that this is an F500-only update. Among the three special instructions one says to attach the unit to the cradle before updating and do not detach. I have yet to install the cr
  9. Got it in the mail today. I'm really not the one to do any sort of comparison as I've only used the F500 a couple times...and never in a car. BUt I'll do the update so all I'll ever know is 3.0 goodness. And no...I'm not going to take a photograph of two SD cards to prove it. You'll just have to believe me.
  10. Shipped 7/29. No tracking number. I don't see people jumping up and down here so I figured no one knew they are on their way. Forgive me if this is old news and people have already received their LEGIT copies in the mail.
  11. Could have cut out a square of the sticky magnetic stuff just big enough for the GPS antenna. The Lincoln wont be generating THAT many Gs
