1. While I've actually found the POI by voice command to work, there is a major problem with it. The POI database for the Z1 is....well lets just say they could do a MUCH better job with their POI's. There just aren't enough in there, and the ones that are have often been wildly wrong. I've found that when searching for a POI via Voice Command, it helps to already know how the POI is entered in the database and try to use the full name when asking for it. For instance, if the POI is something like "Mission Trails Regional Park", then say the full name, and not just something like "Missi
 2. I have a different phone, but maybe I can shed some light on what you could be experiancing. What you could be seeing is a problem with the the way Bluetooth has been implimented on your phone. With my phone, it exhibited itself as an audio beep over the Bluetooth connection every time the phone experianced a temporary loss of signal. Most cell phones loose signal at various times durring the day, but we don't usually notice because the phone doesn't draw our attention to it. In my case, the beeping heard over the Bluetooth connection is probably intended to inform the user that the p
 3. DOH! I found the problem, it was on my end. My security software was being a little too over zelous and not warning me about it. Fixed, everything is working as it should.
 4.
Im going to be installing the Z1 tmrw and I was just going over the directions. I noticed there is a REVERSEGEAR wire, do I really need to run that wire all the way to my tail lights? Is that wire even really needed? Im going to be using ducatiboys circuit so do I need to connect the parking brake wire? Thanks for the help.
You don't need to connect the reverse gear wire unless you plan on adding a backup camera. The only thing it does is automatically display the view of the backup camera when you put your vehicle into reverse. Just coil it up and tuck
It was just an educated opinion and I was trying to help out, no need for smart ass remarks. A rear view cam can be had for well under $400 - spend $35 bucks, and you will be replacing it every month.
Good enough for a rear view backup system. Also, not a bad deal for the price. Heck, at that price you can afford to REPLACE it every couple of years. Most of us don't rush out and buy a $400 CCD camera so we can see the kid's toys when we're backing out the driveway.

Yes they certainly can be had for less than $400, ju

 9.
Has anybody received their bluetooth from 6th avenue.com yet? I ordered my unit back in May. Every time I email them about it, they're telling me that they will get it soon. I check on the Pioneer website and it has them instock. This is the worst online purchase I've ever made. They don't even answer some of my emails. Should I just notify my CC company?
IF you've been waiting since May, I'd tell them they have one week to ship it to you before you inform your CC company about the discrepancy. Send it to them in writing. My unders
 10.
What does the 3D do anyway?
Having used various GPS navigation for a long time now (the better part of a decade), normally "3D" navigation is when the GPS is able to get a fix on enough satelites to generate a three dimensional location fix for the X,Y, and Z axis. Using this, it can more accurately determine your position on the map because not only does it have a 2D X,Y triangulation, but also the 3D axis that gives it "Altitude". So in this case, using that altitude attribute, it can make the map more accurate and display more information. No
380 lines is low end. Average life span for infrared is 2 years. If it is a "CMOS" camera, stay away from it, because you will not be satisfied with the quality of the picture. Also, 1.5 lux really isn't that good, because you will see alot of 'grain' in the pic at night.
Good enough for a rear view backup system. Also, not a bad deal for the price. 12. macalanche is right. There's a bunch of folks over in the Avalanche forums who've done this. I've seen double camera installs done with one in the handle bezel and the other in the little niche above the tow bar in the tow hitch. I fabricated an aluminum face plate and put my rear view camera in that niche too. It's great for backing up to a trailer hitch. In the trucks where I've seen it in the tailgate handle bezel, the camera is often aimed slightly down so the field of view includes the trailer hitch; again to ease backing up to a trailer. Something to consider... I don't k

Something like this: http://www.andreaelectronics.com/Buy/Pr ... _Array.htm Or better yet: http://www.andreaelectronics.com/Buy/Pr ... /DA350.htm The second one looks like it's made specifically for automotive applications. I've used the first one on my desktop PC in a noisy environment and have been very happy with the performance for VOIP app
 14. One other thing you might consider doing, to make it all look really nice and professional when you're done, is get yourself some heat shrink tubing and putting that on each wire after you've connected them. Heck, I dunno, maybe you're already on top of that! :) Cheers!
 15. I've been lurking around these forums for some time now, and finally finding conclusive information on how to bypass the safety interlocs on the AVIC Z1 convinced me to go ahead and buy one. I especially want to send out a big thank you to ducatiboy for answering so many questions and putting out so much hard work to find the answers to so many different questions. I wanted also to mention that I took ducatiboy's instructions from http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html and made a Microsoft Word document that can be printed and given to
